The GCCCA Concert Season Opener features Silver City fan favorite Ilya Yukushev Thur Oct 15, 7 PM in the WNMU Fine Arts Theater. Adult tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at the Pick Store on Bullard or on-line at gcconcerts.org.

In the GCCCA’s 2023 concert season a classical group canceled. Ilya immediately came to mind as a replacement since he is loved by our concert goers. We asked and he said yes. We were thrilled! Before his encore he told us he came from St. Petersburg, Russia, to perform just for us! Unbelievable! We are so fortunate to have him as a friend.

His performance will include Beethoven’s Appassionato, Chopin’s Nocturn – Espressione, plus others including his signature Rhapsody in Blue with a video. Here is a link to his promo video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTnAlArW2-E&t=4s

For more info go to gcconcerts.org or call 575-538-5862

We hope to see you there to help us show Ilya the love he showed us.

On Sunday Sept 6 a few GCCCA Board members went to Las Cruces to hear the Festival Orchestra de Las Cruces’s “All American Concert”. We went because Ilya Yakushev was performing, but more about him in a bit. The concert was FANTASTIC! So many wonderful pieces of music. One of the most moving was “Lincoln Portrait” by Copland. Here is a link to the Seattle Symphony video with James Earl Jone narrating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7_d_4QS9u4

Ilya performed his signature “Rhapsody in Blue” with the full orchestra. WONDERFUL! It was clear he was having so much fun! He will be here in Silver City, Thursday October 15 and his program will include Rhapsody in Blue with his video of early New York. Delightful. Tickets for the concert are available on line at https://www.gcconcerts.org/ for $20. You can also get a season subscription for all 5 concerts for just $65. For more info call 575-538-5862 or go to our website https://www.gcconcerts.org/

Hope to see you there! We need to show him the love he showed us when he flew from St. Petersburg Russia to perform just for us when we told him we needed his help. Such a great guy!

The last concert of the 2026-27 season features Simply 3. Though described as a classical crossover string trio, that doesn't do them justice. Simply Three, has been captivating audiences worldwide with high-octane performances since 2010. Setting them apart from other touring acts is their unique repertoire, which transcends genres by featuring artists and composers like Adele, Gershwin, Ed Sheeran, and Michael Jackson.
