There is something wonderful about watching a child discover that other people are interested in what they have to say.

Not because they're perfect.

Not because they performed flawlessly.

Because they made something.

And someone showed up to witness it.

That's one of the reasons I love theatre education so much.

It gives kids opportunities to be seen while they're still becoming.

Samantha Starr – Starlet (played by Erin Griffith)

She’s a budding actress who changed her name so that it will
become a household word. She’s been pestering Sneer to give her a network show, but he’s procrastinated. Now, she wants him to fire Lizzie and make her the star of the sitcom.

She won’t take “no” for an answer, and has an up close and personal way of getting Sneer to do what she asks for.

🎬 TWO MEN. TWO VERY DIFFERENT KINDS OF TROUBLE.
Let's talk about two of the gentlemen you'll meet in Murder Is on the Air...

⭐ Zack LaPaine (played by David B W Smith)

He's the man behind Vegitol, the tonic that supposedly boosts your fatigued corpuscles. He's a health nut, an exercise enthusiast, and very proud of the ratings The Lizzie Show brings to his product.
He is considerably less enthusiastic about Norman Sneer's waistline.

😂

And then there's...

⭐ Ricardo Montalado (played by Christophe Maso - author)

Movie star.

Heartthrob.

Swashbuckler.

Ladies love him.

Men are irritated by him.

And comedy?

Let's just say it's not exactly his strongest suit.

These two characters are going to bring a LOT of personality to our television studio.

And I have a feeling they're going to make you laugh.

👠 THE WOMEN OF THE LIZZIE SHOW

Let's talk about the ladies at the center of our television studio...

⭐ Lizzie Bell (played by Deanna Duncan)

She's America's sweetheart.

She's funny.

She's successful.

She's beloved by millions.

And she's absolutely thrilled that her former husband's new leading lady has become...well...

Let's just say there's a little history there.

Then we have...

⭐ Macie Dixon (played by Emma Eileen McKinley)

Sweet.

Ditsy.

Adorable.

At least that's what she wants everyone to think.

Macie started out as a bit player, but her career took off after Lizzie's ex-husband insisted she get a bigger role.

And now she's Lizzie's co-star.

Friends?

Maybe.

Enemies?

Possibly.

Murder suspects?

Oh, definitely.

Here's your reminder that theatre does not have to be serious to be serious work.

Sometimes the work is:

making a ridiculous face.

Inventing a completely unnecessary accent.

Pretending a chair is a horse.

Failing spectacularly.

Trying again.

Making your scene partner laugh.

And learning that your first idea doesn't have to be your best idea.

That's how imagination gets stronger.

That's how confidence grows.

That's how an ensemble starts to trust one another.

Well...some of them, anyway.

The cast of Murder Is on the Air has officially been assembled, and I am VERY excited about the ridiculous amount of talent and personality we're putting into this 1957 television studio.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be introducing you to the people who will bring these characters to life.

Some are sweet.

Some are charming.

Some are completely innocent.

And some...

Well.

Let's just say I wouldn't leave my purse unattended around them. 😂

🎙️ WHAT EXACTLY IS MURDER IS ON THE AIR?

Imagine it's 1957.

You're sitting in a television studio.

The audience is warmed up.

The actors are backstage.

The cameras are ready.

The red light comes on.

You're LIVE.

And somewhere between the sitcom jokes, celebrity egos, romantic complications, backstage squabbles and commercial breaks...

someone gets murdered.

Now everyone has a motive.

Everyone has a secret.

And someone in that television studio is a killer.

That's the delicious little world we're stepping into this fall with Murder Is on the Air by Jack Pachuta.

It's comedy.

It's mystery.

It's 1950s television.

And yes, there will be a murder.
