It's time for another Student Spotlight! This week we will hear from Performing Arts major Abilene Skelton about her internship this summer:
"Hi everyone! My name is Abilene Skelton and I am a junior Performing Arts major with a minor in Business Administration. This summer I had the opportunity to be a production assistant/intern for Arts One Presents' production of Anastasia! My job included sourcing costumes and props, marketing and advertisement, input/note taking in production or business meetings, working events, set building, and running front of house for the shows! I met a lot of amazing people and made many connections, including possibly directing for them after I graduate.
Since I want to be a director I loved seeing how a theatre is run from the business side as well as learning more about my style and how I want to run a theatre. The production team at AOP was so welcoming to me and talented at their crafts, I miss them so much. 10/10 would recommend interning at any theatre over the summer, because it will grow your knowledge of all aspects of a theatre, not just the performance side."
