POV: Meeting the bride & groom after they booked you to DJ ON THEIR WEDDING DAY 30 minutes before their ceremony began!
I have three kids & multiple jobs, so it's pretty rare that I'm ever home without any plans on the weekend. It's even more rare that I'm at home laying on the couch, but that's exactly how it worked out so perfectly to make this bride & groom's day turn out the way they envisioned.
My sweet friend (pictured behind me) called me through Facebook messenger. She had never done that before, so I honestly thought it was an accidental butt-dial or maybe a kiddo playing with her phone. I was laying on the couch & debating if I should answer the call or not. I answered & she said "What are you doing??" I told her not much, just laying on the couch. She said "The DJ did not show up and they are looking for someone, can you do it? Their ceremony is in 30 minutes & they said they'd delay it if you could come." 😳😳😳 It took a minute for me to process & I needed to work out who was going to pick up my daughter from a birthday party so I said "I'm going to say probably, but let me call you back in 3 minutes." As soon as I got off the phone my husband said, "I'll start loading your DJ equipment while you go get ready." He knows me well enough to know I was going to do it.
I teach fitness classes and I had taught a class that morning. I was still in my stinky sweat-in workout clothes & wearing a hat with matted down hair that really needed washed. I ran upstairs, threw on this black jumpsuit that was dirty & laying on my bedroom floor. I tried fixing my hair, but there wasn't much helping it at that point. My daughter had this black blingy hat on her bedroom floor so I quickly grabbed it. I've never worn a hat to a wedding reception before this night, but it would just have to do. And then I sprayed perfume on myself about 87 times. 🤣
I got the messenger call at 3:34pm, and I arrived at Countryside Wedding & Events Center, that was an hour away, at 4:45pm! I introduced myself to the bride & groom and quickly went over the information I'd need from them. I'm so thankful I was home & able to help this beautiful couple celebrate their big day! 🥳🔔💍 Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. VanEngelenhoven!
