Calling all kids and all kids at heart! Join kite expert Chuck Jones for a kite-building and kite-flying workshop at McCoy this summer. You'll build your own kite and then learn how to fly it afterward.

The workshop is suitable for all ages, but younger children will need assistance from an adult. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $20 for each kite kit and $15 for each additional kite kit for participants in the same family. Workshops will be offered on Thursday, July 2, from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm and Friday, July 3, from 10:30 am to 12:30pm. Class size is limited, so buy your tickets early to secure your spot. DID YOU KNOW? What we now know as the Bachman-McCoy House burned in 1898 and was rebuilt, with evolving architecture over the next almost 30 years. Some of the original materials, such as hand-hewn logs, are visible from the basement. In 1924, it became the Bachman family’s year-round residence after having served as their summer home for more than a decade. In 2004, the Town of Walden acquired the land through a gift/sale, and in 2015, a passionate group of volunteers formed the nonprofit McCoy Farm & Gardens organization, which has restored it to its current treasured state.

Come walk through this historic home at the monthly open house on Sunday, June 14, from 2-4 pm. Learn more as docents share the history of the Bachman-McCoy House, farm, and gardens, and the families who have called it home.
McCoy honey, t-shirts, water bottles, Emma Bell Miles prints, notecards, and more are available for purchase during open houses.

This Saturday! Join Members of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society on our Spring Migratory Bird Walk on Saturday, May 16, at 8:00am. Birders have recorded 132 species at McCoy, and 93 of them were spotted in May! This is an excellent time to see our year-round feathered friends as well as those just passing through. All ages are welcome. Bring your binoculars if you have them and meet at the Welcome Station at the edge of the Horse Ring Parking Lot.

Mark your calendars and join us for the 10th Annual Memorial Day Picnic. The House will be open for tours, and don’t miss the antique and vintage china silent auction there as well. Outside, there will be arts and crafts, plants, sweet treats, and informational booths.

A ceremony honoring our military begins at 11:30 am. Following will be lots of great music, food, and fun.

Take a ride in a tractor-pulled hay wagon and stop by the Blacksmith Shop to learn about this important activity on an early 20th-century farm.

Food choices include hotdogs and hamburgers cooked by the Signal Mountain Lions Club, BBQ from Blue Sky, funnel cakes, and cotton candy. No admission charge. Hope to see you there!
