One of the hardest parts of watercolor for me is waiting for the layers to dry. Today I was too overwhelmed to do any housework. So I decided to put my brush in water and see where the colors would go. I ended up with a sleepy little apple orchard.

📕 Sketchbook #4 is complete!

One of my favorite things to do when I finish a sketchbook is go back and look at them in chronological order to see how far I’ve come. This time, I really wanted to practice painting light and work on water control. I definitely have some favorites in this one that I’m proud of.

Not every picture is a masterpiece. Some of them are wonkey. Some you want to rip out of the sketchbook (and sometimes you do just that). But every now and then I like to remind myself that it’s just water and pigment on the page. Sometimes it goes wherever it wants and that’s just fine too.

With 4 pages left, I did not finish the sketchbook challenge. However, I did complete 11 new originals! Now it’s time to head back to the real world.
