Join us at The Agora Borealis for a sound bath experience celebrating the New Moon.

Space is limited; be sure to get a ticket to this healing evening of renewal, good energy, and connectedness.

Never been to a sound bath before? Here's what to expect:

1. You’ll lie down or sit comfortably while instruments like singing bowls and chimes create layered, resonant sounds that help your body and mind slow down.

2. There’s nothing to watch or do, just notice how the vibrations feel; some people feel deep relaxation, others notice subtle emotional release.

3. It’s an easy, accessible way to unwind, reset your nervous system, and feel grounded, especially powerful if you’re not used to this kind of quiet, intentional space.

Have loved this park and the many celebrations that occur in it. Looking forward to this rededication!

Join us as we celebrate the revitalization of our beloved community park!

Mayor Arceneaux will officially rededicate the park and help us recognize the neighbors, organizations, and community partners whose hard work made this transformation possible. This has truly been a community effort from start to finish.

Enjoy a journey through Shreveport’s rich musical history with Chris Brown’s curated playlist, (Almost) 100 Years of Shreveport Songs. Families can also explore hands-on activities with Shreve Memorial Library’s Make & Go-Mobile Makerspace.

And of course, refreshments will be provided by Shreveport Biscuit Company!

Come celebrate the people, partnerships, and community spirit that helped bring new life to this special place. We can’t wait to see you there!

About Barnaby:

Barnaby Blue — also known as their online moniker, barnaBEBOP — is a multi-talented artist who uses bright colors, surrealist imagery, and cartoony proportions to convey the thoughts and feelings that rattle through their noggin. Using digital illustration, animation, and design, along with sprinkles of physical media like clay, collage, and paint, they explore a wide array of subject matter that conveys a sense of whimsy.

Blue emphasizes caricatured expressions and poses to make the viewer feel what the character feels. They strive to make the world a more fun, loving, and weird place with their work.

When not in the studio, they can be found doodling on index cards, rewatching the same cartoons endlessly, and trying to befriend stray cats.

Can't make it to the exhibition, no worries. Their work will be available for purchase and appreciation until June 20th at 800 Louisiana Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71101.

Support local as much as you can, when you can.

That money you spend comes right back to this community, and it means a lot to local artisans, makers, and businesses.

Thank you, Thomas DuBois - Pinnacle Realty Advisors, for this incredible post.

5 reasons your dollar is best spent locally.

5) About $0.68 of every dollar spent locally gets reinvested in your community. This isn't just about keeping money in the same spot. It's about making that money the most effective. When you spend your money inside of your community, it creates an economic synergy. You decide what businesses survive with your hard earned dollars.

4) You create a better place to live. Towns thriving with local, small businesses are just more interesting, culturally vibrant places to live. No one wants to live in a city dominated by national chains and big box stores. Ironically, if you want more variety and specialty options, think smaller. Not bigger.

3) Local businesses have to serve their communities well. They literally can't afford to offer a bad product or a substandard service. They don't have big, fancy marketing budgets to make up for it. So, every dollar and every customer counts. Most small businesses literally have their name on their buildings, so it's their reputation that's at stake, not just the bottom line.

2) Your dollar spent locally buys you access to real people, not a customer service line. Small business owners are passionate about what they do, so they are your best source of expert information on the subject. You don't have to worry about your call or your concern being outsourced to an overseas center. Chances are you'll be speaking to a knowledgeable business owner or employee when you shop locally.

1) Your dollar directly influences a life, not a logo. There is a person and a family behind every small business. What's more, 2 out of every 3 new jobs have been created by small businesses since 2014. So your dollar creates local jobs for other people in your community. Spending your dollar locally is the best investment you can make in your neighbor's life.
