Today, in celebration of Women's History Month, we honor multi-talented, artist--choreographer, dancer, actor, director, Roshanda Spears. A native of Los Angeles, CA, Roshanda is the executive director of Shufflin’ Along, LLC which provides private dance lessons, choreography and fitness services and founding executive director of the Shufflin’ Along Foundation and Performing Arts Scholarship Fund. Reared in a family extremely gifted in the arts, business and civil rights, she has been moving to her own beat since starting her dance career at a very young age. Roshanda's dance career continued to blossom under the direction of Dianne Maroney-Grigsby with the Orchesis Dance Company at Grambling State University performing in various venues, including commercials, plays, musicals and movies, where she later became the Assistant Director. Since migrating to Shreveport, LA in 2001, her career has stayed on pointe working in a host of community venues including the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC), schools, dance studios, and universities teaching dance. She is very active in the community and sits on a number of arts affiliated boards and organizations in the Shreveport area. Roshanda is also a professor at Southern University at Shreveport, dance instructor/choreographer at Shreveport Little Theatre, tap dance instructor/choreographer for Stage Center, and the resident choreographer for Mahogany Ensemble Theatre. A Northwest Louisiana Roster Artist, Roshanda has received awards on the state and regional level including a two-time SRAC Artist Fellowship in Dance Award recipient in 2007 & 2014, Outstanding Choreography and Excellence in Choreography Awards for the 2011 Louisiana and Regional American Association of Community Theatres (AACT) Festival, and 2019 Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Performing Arts Award Recipient. In 2020, she directed the inaugural landmark SUSLA-GSU Homecoming 2020 Artists Reunion & Virtual Performance. She is also the 2026 SRAC Performance Fellowship Award Recipient! We salute, Roshanda Spears for “Leading the Change” in the Arts!
