To me a good guitar solo is one that the average Joe wants to sing and hum along to. It doesn’t need to be super flashy or technical, it just needs to get stuck in your head.

I think Derek from achieved that with this guitar solo!

If you’ve ever been to the studio, you’ve probably seen this incredible piece of artwork. Years ago, while updating the acoustic treatment in the live room, I (Stephen) wanted to do something different—something that would add both function and inspiration to the space. Instead of wrapping an acoustic panel with a plain piece of fabric, I thought, why not feature artwork from a local musician?

I was already a fan of both for his music and his art, so I reached out. He generously allowed us to use a scan of this amazing painting, and it’s been a defining part of the studio’s vibe ever since. So many artists that have recorded here have mentioned how much they love it and how it has helped spark creativity.

Fast forward to today—Slim and his band were in the studio filming and tracking a live stripped-down version of one of his songs, and before he left, we had to get a photo of him in front of this masterpiece. This painting isn’t just decor—it’s a huge part of the soul of this studio.
