Sharing photos of myself as a child always made me uncomfortable. I think it’s because of trauma and being the biggest sister, that I never saw myself as a child when I was one. I’m painting my younger self to try to reconnect with the little girl whose favorite thing to do was draw the people and things she loved.

I just moved, the house is a mess, the trim is still unpainted on the other side of the room, and this painting is unfinished. Everything feels like it’s changing and I’m trying to hold myself accountable for my own happiness, but please enjoy this photo of my dog and my handiwork, because this moment is beautiful.

This mini series of 9 paintings were all created within 48 hours. Last summer I took a solo camping trip to clear my head and this is the result. I would love it if all 9 of these little paintings could stay together. I don’t know if I will ever sell them, but if I do it will only be as a complete set. I feel as though they all inform one another. One piece alone is not enough information.
