We love this Chele and we appreciate Mary Karam Gallery coming to our opening reception Saturday night! Thank you for supporting local artists!
Okay y'all! Let me tell you what happened yesterday evening at the ARTrageous Art Hub !
Mary Karam Gallery graced us with her presence!
For those who may not know, Mary Karam Gallery has been the longest operating gallery in North Texas, and for five different years, it has been voted Best Art Gallery in Texoma by Best of Texoma Magazine. Photography and community involvement are two of Mary's many passions.
What many people don't know is that before COVID, I took two of Mary's cell phone photography classes. Those classes helped me begin honing my photography skills and seeing the world through a different lens.
So you can imagine how honored I felt to have her walk into a space that I created.
Of course, I had to show her the ribbon I received for my "Slow Motion" piece that I entered into an art show. Capturing that image was possible because of skills I learned all those years ago.
And yes... I absolutely had to take a picture with her because she's someone I admire and, in my book, she's a celebrity. π
I once read an interview where Mary was asked what success means to her. Her answer has stayed with me. She spoke about success being artists sharing their work, meaningful conversations, returning visitors, people bringing family and friends, visitors coming from other cities, and someone falling in love with a piece of art they'll treasure for years.
Reading those words again reminded me that success comes in many forms.
Creating a safe, welcoming space for artists and our community to gather, connect, and create, that is success too.
Thank you, Mary, for stopping by the Hub. Your support means more than you know. β€οΈ
