Join us for our Legacy Rising Monologue Competition, the powerful culminating event of this year’s Los Angeles Black Creators Summit.

Formerly known as August Wilson New Voices, Legacy Rising Monologue Competition finals is a free community event celebrating the enduring legacy of four iconic Black playwrights: Lorraine Hansberry, Alice Childress, Phillip Hayes Dean, and August Wilson — and shines a spotlight on 8 extraordinary student finalists from across Los Angeles County.

Come witness an evening of bold performances, powerful storytelling, and the next generation of artists stepping into a living cultural inheritance.

Presented in partnership with Ebony Repertory Theatre, Saturday, July 11 at 7:30pm at Nate Holden Performing Arts Center.

The energy for the 2026 Los Angeles Black Creators Summit is reaching new heights, and we are absolutely thrilled to announce a true master of the craft is joining us this year.
