Discover your inner film critic by casting your vote for Best Film and Best Actor in the 29th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival screening at the Shepherdstown Opera House Friday 9/25, Saturday 9/26 and Sunday 9/27.

You'll be joining film lovers simultaneously in over 500 venues across the globe gathering to see the Ten Finalists from Ten Counties in this year's event. With past finalists garnering Oscar nominations and short films continuing to move into the Hollywood mainstream, come see this entertaining program featuring the best short films in the world today!

Ballots will be supplied upon entry.

Last year's audiences loved this event so much we added a third day for 2026.

The Shepherdstown Opera House usually does not present actual opera...

But last Sunday we were graced by Regina Gibson's powerful voice and comedic timing, accompanied by talented pianist Jordan Siwek. Using no amplification, Regina easily filled the theater with her song and personality. Wow!

Thank you Contemporary American Theater Festival for introducing Regina to us, and to Shepherdstown, via her appearance in one of this year's new plays, The Smoker.

Divina: A Fantasy Cabaret isn't your typical theater performance. It's part comedy, part cabaret, and part opera, all wrapped around one very relatable question: what would you do if your inner diva finally showed up and told you the truth?

Regina Gibson (most recently seen in CATF's The Smoker) wrote and performs this one-woman show, with live musical accompaniment from Jordan Siwek.

Sunday, August 16th at 3:00 PM — General admission, all ages, doors at 2:30 PM.

The Shepherdstown Film Society returns this fall with four fantastic selections. Each film is followed by facilitated discussion, as is the Film Society's tradition.

Here's a side of the Shepherdstown Opera House you usually don't get to see...

As many folks know, this 1910 building underwent a head-to-toe rehabilitation between 2019 and 2024. But much of the west-facing exterior—which faces into a neighbor's private courtyard and isn't visible from the street—waited its turn until this spring and summer.

Check out these photos and video of the project in progress as crews removed 1990s-era vinyl siding and restored the building's original wood siding and historic windows. It's a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the type of work that was needed to preserve this historic structure. The video is especially effective at showing the scale of the building as it stretches back from its facade on German Street.

Divina – A Fantasy Cabaret, starring Regina Gibson, comes to the Opera House Sunday, August 16 at 3:00 PM.

Shepherdstown audiences may remember Gibson from this year's Contemporary American Theater Festival (she played the opera singer in The Smoker).

The Shepherdstown Opera House is super pleased to host John R. Miller and his team tonight, on the same day as his new album, The Great Unknowing, is officially released! Thank you, John, for choosing our venue for this special concert.

Seats for this show have been SOLD OUT for quite a while.

We will have a VERY small number of walk up/standing room only tickets available at the door. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Apologies in advance for not being able to accommodate everyone who wants to see John in person.

🎭 As the curtain closes on the Town Run Theater Company's 2025-26 season of 4 special plays, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it possible.
