One thing we hear from homeschool families all the time is, “But what about my older kids?”

Truthfully, not every child who comes to The Play Place is here to climb and slide.

Sometimes the littles are playing while older siblings are reading, working on assignments, or enjoying a quiet space in our birthday room.

Homeschooling multiple ages isn’t always easy, and we’re happy to offer a space where everyone can do what they need to do. ❤️

Just a heads up, friends—we’ll be CLOSED for open play next week while our family sneaks away for a little vacation. ❤️

So if you’ve been meaning to come play, this is your week!

Some weekends just fill your cup. ❤️

This weekend was packed with celebrations, including two Gold Parties, and we are so thankful for every family who chose to celebrate with us.

Getting to bring your vision to life and help celebrate your little ones is never something we’ll take for granted.

Messy Play Friday was a MESS… and we mean that in the best way. 😍💛

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning! We spent the day squishing, scooping, pouring, and exploring citrus-themed Oobleck. 🍋✨ From sorting colorful “lemons” and pretending to make lemonade to digging dinosaurs out of gooey Oobleck, our little friends stayed busy having fun while building fine motor skills and sensory confidence.

This weekly tradition is quickly becoming one of our favorite parts of the week, and we can’t wait to do it again!

📅 Join us next Friday at 11 AM for another Messy Play Friday.

⚠️ We do recommend reserving your playtime in advance. These sessions have been filling up quickly, and we want to make sure everyone who wants to participate has a spot.

Because of Messy Play Friday we are officially at capacity until 1:00 PM! 🍋

If you did not already have a reservation as of 7:00 AM this morning, please plan to join us after 1:00 PM. We are completely full and don’t want anyone making the trip only to be turned away.

If you’re looking for somewhere cool, clean, and toddler-approved this week, we’d love to see you at The Play Place Shelby. ❤️

☕ Tuesday (9-4)
BOGO drinks all day in the café.

🧸 Wednesday (10-3)
Usually one of our quieter days. If you prefer a smaller crowd and more room to roam, Wednesdays are a great time to visit.

🍕 Thursday (2-7)
Our late play day! Grab dinner on the way and bring it with you. Outside food is always welcome, and we have tables available so you can enjoy dinner while the kids play.

🍋 Friday (10-4)
Messy Play starts at 11 AM!

This week’s theme is Lemonade Stand Oobleck! We’ll be mixing up a giant batch of yellow “lemonade” oobleck (a safe, non-toxic mixture of cornstarch and water) along with fun toys and sensory play stations designed to keep little hands busy and happy.

⚠️ Reservations are strongly encouraged for Messy Play. We sold out last time, and spots are limited.

Whether you’re looking for a playdate, hoping your little one makes some new friends, working on sharing skills, or you just need to get out of the house for a while, we’ve tried to create a space where children can play safely and caregivers can actually enjoy being here too.

Come cool off with us this week. We can’t wait to see you. ❤️

Some moms just get it.

Could you spend weeks hunting down decorations, remembering cups, ordering pizza, blowing up balloons at midnight, and hoping you didn’t forget something important?

Sure.

But sometimes life is already full enough.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give yourself is showing up.

This weekend’s Sesame Street Gold Party was one of those celebrations. Mom brought the birthday child. We handled the setup, the decorations, the food, the cleanup, and all the little details in between.

The best part? She got to actually enjoy the party.

She wasn’t hanging streamers.
She wasn’t wiping tables.
She wasn’t sending someone on an emergency Dollar General run.

She was making memories.

And honestly, that’s exactly why we offer our Gold Parties.

We love taking your ideas, your Pinterest boards, your screenshots, your vision—and bringing it to life so you can focus on what matters most: celebrating your little one.

This weekend was a good reminder that sometimes the luxury isn’t the decorations.

It’s getting to be fully present. ❤️
