Meet Iris. She is my new Brazilian rainbow boa, and her name means goddess of the rainbow. She’s been a dream species ever since I discovered their gorgeous iridescent coloring. While this species is a constrictor, and they are not venomous, and the adults are quite docile. She has been adjusting quite well to her new home quite well, and I’ve loved getting to know her so far. She may occasionally join me for events, but for the most part she is a personal pet. I just couldn’t not share her with you guys! What do you think of her? 🌈🖤

Sitting and watching this happen in real time is truly one of the most fascinating and humbling experiences you can have. To be honest, it makes me think of how sometimes we go through a really difficult growth process in life. It can be long, painful, requires waiting, and even changing what is inside of us. But if we let it, change can eventually become a beautiful thing. 🐛🌿🦋

It’s craaaaazy how tiny these caterpillars started right when they hatch! Then they just keep eating and eating and eating and getting continuously bigger before they form their chrysalis. Check it out!
