Monthly Event

We had another beautiful day for a picnic, friendship, and sharing our love of art at our local park. While at the park, a gift of appreciation was given to Joanne Trepanier, a founding member of our society who recently stepped down from our board. Thank you Joanne, you have been a wonderful asset and friend to our society!

Congratulations to Barbara Galster, September’s Artist of the Month!
“The Flower Tender” is a 16x20 oil on wrapped canvas.

In her own words

In the fall of 2015 I picked up an artist paintbrush for the first time. It was love at first stroke. My first works were all traditional still life paintings that incorporated meaningful items like my grandma’s fruit bowl. Since I love flowers and gardens and beautiful architecture I began to paint some scenes that I had photographed. Recently I have begun to paint outdoors in my own garden and anywhere I can set up an easel to capture the scene before me.
In the 4 paintings I submitted for the STFAS Facebook posting there are several firsts. There is a self portrait – The Flower Tender– my one and only portrait to date. There is a painting of my Son’s cat Wookie - Kitty Kolors – my one and only animal portrait to date. There is a painting of a beautiful stucco duplex in Lima Peru - Casa de Miraflores - painted from my photograph – I was drawn to the colors and the flowers and the beautiful architecture. The final painting – Betty’s Cottage Garden - was begun on site at my friend Betty’s and completed in my home studio.
