Ann on her soapbox: I came to Shelburne Falls, a genuine small town with a river and a railroad running through it, bookstores, art galleries, a variety of restaurants, clothing shops, a pharmacy with a soda fountain, a family-owned grocery, a beautiful library, a food co-op, coffee shops, a candy maker and good pizza! I left my hometown, Brooklyn, NY, because the corporate, online shopping sites had obliterated the local bookstores, groceries, pharmacies, & coffee shops. The empty storefronts were now available for the corporates to take over and install their "discounted" and "gourmet" products - often taking over 2 or 3 storefronts to accomplish their mission. Funky, funny old Brooklyn became a slick, upscale, overpriced home base for corporate rip-off providers. Boring! Boring! Boring!I Please dear neighbours continue to SHOP LOCAL! Okay, someone please help me down from my soapbox...🕊️🌺 🕊️

Baker Pharmacy in Shelburne Falls is set to reopen on Monday, Feb. 23, with a new pharmacist, after it closed last month due to financial and staffing issues.
