Elvis Week and Sheffield Remembers Family please keep Tony Nance and his family in your prayers, especially this weekend as they say good bye to his Father. We lost Mama Josie years back, she was a big part of both events. Tony hasn't been able to attend the last few years but has long been a part of both. Tony was given the nickname of Cowboy by Sherrill/Shaun Neilson, who sang with Elvis. Today Tony announced that his Father had gained his cowboy wings. https://www.mortimerfh.com/obituaries/James-Johnson?obId=47995589&fbclid=IwY2xjawQ755hleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFnaXgyMHZDV25xU3l5Y3Jic3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHpIG--X14g6le_O7ee38kwVb_1I9bucrADJWfIUqmKO2XZlTNNfstdrwSNns_aem__H9uaORgOUGKzq6dacm7kQ

Sheffield Family sadly we have to share the news that JJ Elvis - John J. Plante has gained his wings. He was being taken care of at a medical facility that was able to keep him pain free and he passed peacefully. He had known that he didn't have long and was a peace with that - When his friends Reenie and Paul Hunt had visited with him they talked about him being able to sing with Elvis and he really happy thinking about that. He loved his trip to Sheffield, he kept talking about wanting to come back every year but his health and other things prevented it and traveling alone was probably not a safe thing for the last few years. He even talked about wishing he could move to Alabama or Tennessee because people were so good to him there. He would come up with the best show he could and even bring props and scarves to make it more special - He loved Elvis and He loved the fans! I wanted to share this song from his set at Sheffield because he did have a long and I am sure interesting bus trip from his home in New York, to Birmingham and then another to Sheffield area. Watching JJ walk and get thru the day you could see it could be a struggle but once he was on stage he was in full performance mode and it was as if his body didn't realize it wasn't supposed to move like that - lol. We will so miss JJ!

When looking for a video of Jerry Russell singing and I came across this episode that Carey Rayburn produced in his ETA program about Jerry and I thought it would introduce to many who never really had a chance to get to know Jerry or even Lisa and a great reminder of those who are now missing them both. Today would have been Jerry's earthly birthday and is also the anniversary of his memorial service. For those of us that did know and work with Jerry who was a big planner and left little to chance we have to wonder did he plan to have it land on the same day or not lol -- Sadly we lost Lisa at the end of last year not long after Sheffield Remembers which the two of them created and ran until Jerry's health made him stop. Happy Birthday Jerry we miss you and appreciate all you gave us.

PRAYER WARRIORS - I HAVE AN UPDATE ON JJ ELVIS - I heard back from his brother and sister in law last night. Sadly it was not good news. He has had a few health concerns and had been in the hospital a few weeks ago but had complained to them that he was fatigued and having a lot of pain. When they convinced him he needed let his brother take him back he was jaundiced and obvious pain. They also found out that he had not been taking his medications or making his regular doctor visits like he had told them he had. The doctors found his has blood clots in his lungs and a mass on his pancreas has become cancerous. He will be moved to a hospice center to help keep him comfortable and care for him when things can be set up. The doctor has said that we could lose him with in months. We all know that JJ is a fighter and can be stubborn and don't like to be told what he can and can't do lol so he might try to prove them wrong - So keep him, his brother and sister in law, other family or close friends and his medical staff in your prayers. His sister in law said that anyone that wanted to send cards could send it to their address and they would make sure he gets them until he is moved and they can be sent to his new address. They also gave me the hospital address and room number if anyone wanted it - but I will just share there mailing address for everyone since we don't know how long he will be staying at the hospital - JJ loved getting cards from his Elvis family and friends and in phone calls talked about missing them and planning to come back to Elvis Week or Sheffield with a show to knock our socks off. He was so touched by how much love and care everyone showed him. Cards can be sent to

It is with very sad news I share this video of Lisa Russell - it is from the year she surprised us all with the fact she had a beautiful voice. She allowed Jerry to shine out front and was his support thru thick and thin until we lost him some years ago. As she has faced her own battle with health Ted Sobay has been her support and took care of her thru it all since they found one another. Lisa has now left us on this earth and I am sure Jerry was waiting for her and asking "Lisa where you been?" - if you knew Jerry you can hear him say that still. We will miss Lisa as we have missed Jerry. We will also always thank them for creating what we have today as Sheffield Remembers. Keep Ted and Lisa's children and their family I'm your prayers. To Lisa, From Ted - sung by Gene Hodge

Lisa and Jerry Russell began Elvis Day in Sheffield with the help of some friends and their Official Today, Tomorrow and Forever Elvis Fan Club. They worked together hard for years to bring the event to life each year until Jerry's health would no longer allow him to. Those who they had planned and prepared the event for each year stepped up and saw that it continued that year and took over after Jerry's death to keep that dream alive. Lisa continued to attend each year when her health would allow it and a special friend who came into her life began to attend with her when she was able. Ted knew that Sheffield Remembers as it was renamed and her friends there were important to Lisa and he was even one of the performers one year with his magic. Ted and Lisa continued to enjoy life with each other thru the good times and the bad and in sickness and health. Lisa's health has not been very good lately and she was not going to be able to attend this year's event - Ted wanted Lisa to know how he felt about her and wrote a beautiful song - he asked Gene Hodge to sing the song on Saturday for Lisa. Gene who with his wife Gale been founding members of the event and very active in helping to keep it going all these years and were also dear close friends of Jerry and Lisa, was very honored to do so. Gene took the words written by Ted and created the music to go with them and sang it during the Opening Ceremony. Tammy Sauer live streamed it so Lisa could watch and hear it on that day. It is such a beautiful song and gift we also want to share it on this page for everyone to enjoy.
