Should we make a 20th Anniversary Torqmaster?
About 20 years ago in July 1992, we developed 5 prototypes for the Torqmaster model. Initially the thought was to make "Torqmaster" another brand name. About a month after the 5 prototypes were completed, they were well received and all
found happy homes from various guitar shows around the country. After the old shop was flooded twice many photo's of guitars and documentation became ruined or permanently destroyed. Of the 5 prototypes only one picture of the Green one is currently known to exist, and so only it's configuration is known with certainty. What is known Of the 5 prototypes: One was white, the rest were fluorescent colors, Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. Each had a single High output hand wound Wollerman single coil bridge pickup, and 3 of them also had an additional neck pickup. They all probably had a 24-3/4 inch scale length, with possibly one with a 25-1/2 scale length. 3 had maple fingerboards, and 2 had
rosewood fingerboards; with one having 22 frets and the others had 21 frets. 2 had standard sealed gear tuners, and 3 had Sperzel locking tuners. 3 had Kahler fixed bridges, and 2 had Kahler tremolo bridges. We still have 3 different of the original pickgaurd templates from the prototypes, although it is only known for sure which one went on the Green one. Soon after the Torqmaster Prototypes were finished it was decided to make them a model instead of a brand name; and the body was refined to make it more Torque like. It became the Standard Torqmaster style for many years. After about 5 years we began offering a version with a deeper cutaway to address some players concern to be able to access all of the frets.
Over the years our Standard, and Cutaway Torqmaster body style have been made in various configurations, sizes, and types of construction. We have made them with the Wollerman brand name, and with some of our other brand names; and has become one of our most popular models.
So the idea and the question is: Should we make some limited Edition, 20th Aniversary versions based on the original Prototypes??
