🌦️ The Good News & The Bad News...
First, the good news: we aren’t going to be hearing much about "drought" for a little while!
The recent rain hasn’t officially wiped it out statewide just yet, but this heavy moisture, thick cloud cover, and consistent rainfall have certainly given us a massive head start.
⚠️ The Catch: Keep in mind that Alabama has a strict "what have you done for me lately?" kind of water cycle. If we don’t keep getting regular rainfall, we will slide right back into a drought before you know it.
🥶 LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK!
Get ready for a classic late May/early June Cold Air Damming episode (the wedge).
What this means: This setup typically drives a wedge of much cooler-than-normal air down the eastern side of the Appalachians.
Who gets coolest: Eastern Alabama and Georgia will feel it the most—don't be surprised if you see people wearing long sleeves in the afternoon IF THIS PANS OUT as it looks today.
For Central & North Alabama: Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Cullman, and The Shoals usually don't get quite as chilly, but it will absolutely help us save a few bucks on the power bill.
📉 Will the rain completely stop? Not exactly. While plenty of churches will enjoy that cooler air for Vacation Bible School (VBS) next week, this setup rarely dries us out completely. It should thin out the coverage of those heavy daily downpours, but keep the umbrellas handy just in case!
Stay tuned for timing updates as we get closer! 🗺️🌧️
