Sometimes "thank you" doesn't seem big enough.
I was recently lucky enough to be gifted the most beautiful paper from two local artists for use in my collages. One set was received from the partner of an artist who had an abundance of his work in need of downsizing. His pieces were created with paint and a dipping technique that leaves an end product that mimics blood under a microscope.
The other, a collection of the most stunning, high quality papers in a variety of textures, colors, and designs, received from a woman who has made book bindings and other art over the years, passing on her paper to focus on savoring time with those she loves.
Since receiving these, I have felt a great sense of responsibility to use them in a way that feels meaningful to honor each of the artists they came from. Going forward, every piece I make will have pieces of these gifts sprinkled in, paying respect to the original owners and ensuring they are respectfully represented in my own art as a small nod of thanks for the priceless gifts they have given me.❤️
