During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Sarah Rose conducted a series of art activities that showcased the creative possibilities of cyanotype prints, often called sun prints.

Before the concert, Rose, along with a small team from JMKAC and the Glacial Lakes Conservancy, visited Willow Creek Preserve. There, they crafted cyanotype prints using local grasses and other plants found on the property. These prints served as the foundation for the art activities at the concert.

While the community engaged in creating various objects using these prints, representatives from the Glacial Lakes Conservancy shared insights about their organization, with a particular focus on Land Trust Days. These events, hosted by land trusts from July through September, are coordinated by Gathering Waters, a Wisconsin alliance of over 40 land trusts dedicated to safeguarding essential land and water resources.

During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Patty Bode reached out to the community to raise awareness about addiction disorder recovery.

Patty created the Remember Love Recovery Project in memory of her son, Ryan Bode Moriarty, who passed away from a he**in overdose in 2018.

Community members were invited to create recovery flags focusing on themes of love, hope, gratitude, and forgiveness. Materials such as paint, fabric, and markers were provided for all age groups, highlighting the importance of human connection in the recovery process.

Leading up to the concert weekend, Bode joined JMKAC offering Recover Flag workshops at Mental Health America Lakeshore, Lighthouse Recovery Community Center, and Rodgers Behavioral Health. We also had Koke Mailo-Podewils from the POSITIVITY booth join us to share his recovery journey and spread positivity.

Patty Bode's plan is to take these flags to Washington, D.C., to further promote addiction recovery awareness.

During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Eileen Madden with support provided by Hamilton Wood Type Museum, engaged with the community to explore the ways music resonates with the people of Sheboygan.

With her extensive background in printmaking, Madden brought a beautifully hand-printed poster inspired by last year's Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series to the tent. She showed community members how to transform this poster into a charming eight-page mini-booklet known as a zine. Inside, individuals were encouraged to respond to the question, "How does music inspire you?"

Madden also collaborated with our community partner, Dementia Care Network, to highlight the transformative power of music. Dementia Care Network shared information about the SPARK! program, an engaging activity program designed for individuals with memory loss, offered by JMKAC.

During this past summer's Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series, artist Kim Geiser, from Hello Happiness Creativity Center, inspired community members to contribute to a flourishing community flower garden filled with ideas, wishes, and creativity.

From June 27 to July 27, the Community Seed Library project encouraged people to contemplate their desires for community growth and the nurturing needed for those ideas to bloom. This initiative eventually blossomed into the Community Flower Garden.

In addition, we had the participation of PATH (Providing Access to Healing), a United Way initiative, which focuses on school-based mental health to enhance access for youth by addressing financial and geographic barriers. Lakeshore Community Health Center was also present, committed to providing comprehensive healthcare, including medical, behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services, and support, to underserved populations, regardless of financial disparities.

The flowers served as beautiful centerpieces for the Chowdown event, an annual culinary gathering hosted by Big Brother Big Sisters WI Shoreline.

During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Kristopher Pollard encouraged the community to embrace creativity by sketching half-faced self-portraits.

Participants had the option to either complete their own portrait or start one for someone else to finish, fostering connections and celebrating diversity within the community.

At the same concert, our community partner Leslie Laster showcased diversity through visual and audio storytelling in her "We are Sheboygan County Project." This initiative invited adults in the community to share their personal stories, highlighting not only their uniqueness but also our common bonds.

During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Sara Willadsen collaborated with the community aiming to explore their kinship with the land, with other creatures, and with each other.

Together with the Humane Society of Sheboygan County, Willadsen facilitated an exploration of our relationships with animals.

Using submitted pet images, recycled pages from animal books and magazines, and colorful paper stored in white bins, the community created collages that were later displayed on plastic netting for everyone to appreciate during the concert.

These beautiful collages will soon adorn the walls of the Humane Society of Sheboygan County.

During the Sheboygan Levitt AMP Music Series this past summer, artist Amanda Tollefson collaborated with the community to celebrate our connections with loved ones inside the STUDIO tent.

The community were encouraged to reflect on someone who had positively influenced their lives, and to associate an object or item with that person.

Throughout that week, we had the pleasure of partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County, an organization dedicated to empowering young people to become diligent, compassionate, and responsible citizens, thereby enhancing their futures.

Tollefson's banners were displayed at a banquet hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Sheboygan County.
