Camp Y-Koda is located on a beautiful 80 acre parcel just west of Sheboygan Falls, WI. The property is bordered

by the Sheboygan River to the north and east, has a three acre lake, wetlands, forests, and more than five acres of prairie. Camp Y-Koda was founded in 1969 by the Sheboygan County YMCA and has been offering summer camp experiences ever since. In 2001, Camp Y-Koda merged with the Outdoor Skills Center and officially became known as Camp Y-Koda Outdoor Skills and Education. The merger combined two organizations that shared the same passion of providing valuable outdoor experiences to youth, families, and community members at large. Today, Camp Y-Koda is one of the premier summer day camps in the state of Wisconsin serving roughly 1900 campers each summer through more than 80 different camp choices. We double as a year round award winning environmental education center serving schools throughout Sheboygan County and beyond. We have a passion for the outdoors, and we believe strongly in the importance of outdoor experiences for youth, families, and adults alike as an integral component of a healthy and wholesome lifestyle. We are a proud piece of our community and we seek to make its members stronger by providing valuable outdoor experiences to them through camps, educational programs, events, and other forms of outreach.

Trees & Cookies — A New Camp Y-Koda Tradition 🍪🌲

Friday night, Camp Y-Koda had the incredible honor of bringing a brand-new tradition to life: Trees & Cookies—an evening dedicated to celebrating the people who make camp what it is.

We gathered together to laugh, share memories, celebrate accomplishments, and recognize the incredible staff who poured their time, energy, creativity, and hearts into serving our campers this summer. From years of service to individual acts of leadership, spirit, dedication, and impact, it was a night all about celebrating the people behind the magic of Camp Y-Koda. 💚

But there was one moment that made this night especially meaningful.

An award was created to recognize a volunteer who consistently goes above and beyond for their campers and students—someone who demonstrates exceptional care, patience, creativity, encouragement, and dedication in serving the youth entrusted to them.

And there could not have been a more fitting person to receive the very first ✨ Walter Way Award ✨ than the man whose example inspired it.

Walter Vollrath.

It was an absolute honor to present this award to Walter in recognition of his unwavering dedication and lifelong service to the youth we serve.

The name “The Walter Way” represents so much more than an award. It represents a way of showing up. A way of caring. A way of leading. A way of putting young people first and giving just a little bit more because you know it matters.

To be able to stand in front of our staff and present Walter with the first award bearing his name was a moment we will not soon forget. 💚

The tradition starts here. The legacy continues.

And to every member of our Camp Y-Koda family: thank you for making this summer one worth celebrating. Thank you for showing up, for caring deeply, for choosing patience, for finding the fun, for singing the songs, and for creating the magic.

Once Y-Koda, always Y-Koda. ❤️

Our staff recently coordinated a special day to wear the colors representing the YMCA’s four core values.
We’re proud of our staff for bringing these values to life and showing our campers what it means to be part of the YMCA community!

At camp, we don’t just talk about our values—we put them into practice every single day!

Please join us in welcoming Dani Roscovius as Camp Y-Koda’s new Summer Camp Program Director!!
Dani brings a strong combination of camp experience, YMCA leadership, and a deep personal connection to the impact of summer camp and youth development.

Dani’s passion for camping began as a child attending summer camp in Central Wisconsin. She later progressed through junior staff and volunteer programs before becoming a camp counselor. Those early experiences helped shape her career and her commitment to creating meaningful, impactful camp experiences for young people.
Throughout her career, Dani has served YMCAs in Alabama, Upper Michigan, and Central Wisconsin, gaining experience in camp operations, leadership, and program development. After returning to Wisconsin in 2022, she joined the Camp Y-Koda team, where she has continued to contribute to the experience of our campers, families, and staff.
Dani’s background in Organizational Leadership provides her with a strong foundation in effective leadership, strategic planning, and organizational growth. In this new role, she will have the opportunity to build on her experience at Camp Y-Koda while helping us continue to strengthen our programs, support our staff, and grow the impact of camp in the years ahead.

Dani is deeply committed to the mission-driven work of the YMCA and to the role that summer camp can play in helping children and teens build confidence, develop character, form meaningful relationships, and create lifelong memories. Her professional accomplishments include earning her YMCA Team Leader certification and Youth Mental Health First Aid certification, as well as participating in the YMCA Raggers Program, where she continues her personal and professional growth as a Red Ragger.

We are especially excited that Dani will be stepping into this leadership role from within the Camp Y-Koda team. Her existing knowledge of our camp community, combined with her broader YMCA experience and passion for camp, will be valuable as we look toward the continued growth and development of Camp Y-Koda.
Outside of work, Dani enjoys exploring the outdoors with her dogs, discovering new coffee shops, taking road trips with friends, and spending time with her nieces and nephew.

We are excited to have Dani take on this new role and look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion she will continue to bring to Camp Y-Koda.

Please join us in congratulating Dani and welcoming her into this new chapter of leadership!
