The Ritz of Shawnee The Historic Ritz Theatre became an icon of entertainment in Shawnee, Ok in the early 1900's for movies . Now, the Ritz is the home to live performances.

The Ritz Theater was built in 1897-1899 as a dry goods store. In 1911 it was purchased by Jake Jones Sr. and on March 19th The Cozy Theater opened its doors. During WWI the Cozy was remodeled and became a stop on the Vaudeville circuit. Finally in 1926 the theater was renamed The Ritz and showed the first talking motion pictures, The Ritz is now a music venue.
