‼️ 2026 Shawnee Wrestling Crucible ‼️

Today our kids did 7 miles. Proud of them, if it was easy everyone would do it. Proud to say everyone earned the shirts today, No Drops besides a few tears….😎 All accomplished!

Shout out to all of our boosters, Alumni, parents and volunteers, and Special Thanks to our US Army Sergeant First Class Estep who joined us with his ruck!

A personal shout out from me is to Shawnee Wrestling Alumni, Private First Class Eliana Banks for the Plate run! Have not ran with or put one of those on since 2011, brought back some memories and it was worth it!

This was our 6th year of the Shawnee Crucible!

Huge thank you to our parents and community!
It’s not easy putting on a tournament especially with a reschedule.

This event was a rescheduled so that we can recognize our Individual City League Champions at our Home football game tonight during halftime.

Those champions will need to meet me on the North Side of the football field where we will es**rt them out onto the field with their Coaches!

Huge congratulations to Will Rogers for winning the Team trophy this year! Below are the results. If there is a mistake, We are human too😎 just message me and we will get it corrected.

Looking Back

1936 (90 years ago): Happy 90th anniversary to Harold Cagle, who attended Shawnee High School and earned a silver medal in the pentathlon at the famous 1936 "N**i" Olympic Games in Berlin. Among those in the stadium that day was German chancellor Adolf Hi**er. Cagle attended Oklahoma Baptist University and served with the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Private first class Cagle was killed in action at the Battle of Iwo Jima on February 21, 1945, less than six months prior to the end of the war. He received the Purple Heart and is buried at the Golden Gate National Cemetery at San Bruno, California.

1986 (40 years ago): Shawnee won its first state wrestling title led by Coach Mark Leen. The team was undefeated and rated number one in the nation. Leen was named the National High School Coach of the Year by Wrestling USA Magazine.
Brett Beams (168), Nick Mauldin (148), Kyle Rackley (178), and Scott Williams (190) were each selected to various All-America teams. Beams became SHS's first ever two-time state champion.

2006 (20 years ago): 171 pounder Eugene Young and 215 pounder Gary Frazier became Shawnee's fourth and fifth two-time state champions as the Wolves finished fourth at the state.tournament. Following the season, Young signed with the University of Oklahoma where he now teaches business courses.
Also bringing home the gold that year was 130 pounder Aaron Smith whose father Joe was a state runnerup in 1988. They became the first father-son combination from Shawnee to make the finals of a state tournament. Aaron is currently the head coach at Bethel.

2016 (10 years ago): Heavyweight Creed Humphrey placed second at the state tournament matching his dad's performance in 1990. Creed went on to play four seasons of football at the University of Oklahoma where he was an All-American and is now an All-Pro center for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs..
Brady Wilsie of Byron High School, son of 1989 state champion Richard Wilsie, won his second Class A Illinois state championship at 126 pounds. He finished the season with a 44-0 record and signed with Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

2026: Former Wolves and Garden City Community College head coach Mark Leen was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association's Hall of Fame.

🚨 ‼️ Shawnee City League Update ‼️ 🚨

We will be moving the Shawnee City League Tournament from Friday to Thursday with a start time of 530pm! Please help me Spread the word.

We want to recognize all of our City League Champions at the Home Football Game vs El Reno on Friday.

First set of Duals are done. Each school was able to wrestle 2 duals as team, really impressed with our little ones! Those referees need to be fired for sure……😂

Tomorrow- 6pm each team will finish off with their final dual. Should end by 715/730pm to give you a time frame. We do our best to ensure every kids gets a match in.

These kids were super excited tonight and we enjoy watching them compete and have fun!

Each wrestler must have a valid USA Wrestling Membership card.
