Here is a photo taken from what used to be the balcony area of the beautiful Aztec. Taken a couple of weeks ago, you can see that there is still much work that must take place before the theater will be open to the public. The screen will be at the far end where the brick wall is shown in this picture and the ceiling will be removed, exposing rafters. Salvaged items from the Abilene Fine Arts Theater that will be used at the Aztec can be seen on the floor, as well as some new HVAC items which still need to be installed.

Here is a sneak peek of one of the chandeliers that will be used in the Aztec. There are three identical ones just like this and they came from the Fine Arts theater in Abilene. This chandelier and other Art Deco features were rescued from the Abilene theater along with the marquee outside the theater. You can also see some trim work in the background that will frame the screen when the project is complete. There is a lot of dust, but so many treasures just waiting to have life breathed back into them!
