THE CASSANDRA MURDERS
Dr. Kate Wells, a Forensic Psychologist at COLUSA STATE HOSPITAL FOR THE CRIMINALLY INSANE, must determine whether a new inmate, Cass Porter, is insane, or faking insanity to avoid trial for murder. Despite Kate’s skepticism, she and Cass develop a mysterious bond. Then Cass risks her freedom…and her life— to tell Kate that there is a “dark and evil secret” at CSHCI. Will Kate believe her—in time to save them both?

The Shawnee Playhouse is seeking 7 versatile actors to play 21 roles in our upcoming production of The Cassandra Murders by Madeline Daly Puccioni—winner of the 2025/2026 S.O.P.S. Full-Length Play Competition!

ACTOR 1 (Female, 20s):
Cass (27): Clever, beautiful, psychic… insane (or not).
Cassandra (13): Fierce, angry, Hecuba’s daughter.
Cassie (5): A terrified little girl.

ACTOR 2 (Female, 40s):
Dr. Kate Wells (40): Brilliant, driven Forensic Psychologist at CSHCI.
Hecuba (45): Fierce, protective mother.

ACTOR 3 (Male, 40s):
Marco (40): Kind, gentle nurse & Kate’s friend; undercover cop.
Santos (40): Uniformed policeman.

ACTOR 4 (Male, 40s–50s):
Rob Carter (40): Orderly, tech-wizard, devious, ruthless.
Dr. Heywood (50): Clever, predatory Shakespeare professor.
