Sitting alone at the studio tonight, surrounded by empty space where recital props once stood, I find myself reflecting on so much more than just another dance season coming to an end.
This week has been a difficult one for our family, and maybe that’s why the memories feel especially close tonight. As I sit here in the quiet, I can’t help but think about the last 10 years—the highs, the lows, the victories, the setbacks, and all the moments in between. Every one of them has shaped me into the dance educator, business owner, and person I am today.
This year marks 10 years of owning the studio, but the story began long before that. My teacher ran her studio in this very building for 25 years before passing it on to me. This is where I grew up. Where I learned discipline, confidence, friendship, and a love for dance. This building was never just a studio—it was home.
And in many ways, it literally was. My family and I lived here while building our house. Countless hours were spent within these walls, not just teaching dance, but building a life. Every corner holds a memory. Every recital, every class, every costume, every laugh, every tear has left its mark.
Tonight, with the studio stripped down and quiet before Sunday’s recital, I’m reminded that while props are packed away and seasons come and go, what truly remains are the people and the memories. The students who walked through these doors and found confidence. The friendships that were formed. The families who trusted me with their children. The teachers, volunteers, and supporters who helped carry this dream through every chapter.
As I get older, I find myself appreciating these moments more deeply. The milestones. The traditions. The people who have been part of the journey. Nothing lasts forever, and that’s what makes these memories so precious.
My heart is full of gratitude tonight. For the legacy that was entrusted to me. For the privilege of doing what I love. For every family who has become part of our studio story. And for the countless memories that have filled these walls for more than 35 years.
Here’s to Sunday. Here’s to celebrating another incredible season. And here’s to honoring the past while looking forward to all the beautiful moments still to come.
Thank you for being part of this journey. ❤️
