What? Why is he posting so early? Well, the answer is simple. I will be traveling this weekend. We leave Florida on Friday morning. We will drive all day Friday. We will visit friends on the way home, and we should be home on Sunday. So I wanted to post the advances while we were stable. Thank you all for continuing to play while we were gone. Thank you for respecting my substitute hosts.
Here are the advances. Who was the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize? In 1920, the New York Times claimed a certain scientist lacked the “knowledge ladled out daily in high schools.” He was later credited with inventing the first liquid-fueled rocket. Welcome once again from beautiful Sanibel Island, Florida. It is currently 85° and sunny. Mostly, I’ve been hanging out in the pool and talking to folks I’ve known for years. It’s been good. The no-see-ums (yes, really) haven’t been as bad as they’ve been in the past. They’re still biting, and I’m still itching, but not as badly as in years gone by. Some people aren’t bothered by them. Some people get bitten, welt up, and itch, itch, itch. Guess which one I am. But it’s been good. Very relaxing.

Greetings from Sanibel Island in Florida! We left Wednesday morning, driving Bill’s EV on a road trip for the first time. It did really well. It ultimately took us longer because we had to stop to charge every couple of hours for at least half an hour. But it gave us time to go to lunch, walk around, etc. All the things we usually don’t do on a road trip. We used to leave Thursday morning and drive, drive, drive. We’re smarter (and older) now and give ourselves an extra 24 hours to do it. But it is sunny and warm here. We have a pool. We have a lanai. I haven’t figured out the bug situation yet. Last year, the no-see-ums (yes, they’re really called that) were terrible. When they bite me, I get welts that itch. But we will be playing trivia here on Tuesday nights.
Here are this week's advances. The questions: Who was the first Republican Vice President of the United States? Who was President George Washington's first Secretary of War? Which US state is home to the Inyo Mountains? And the unrelated answers: Boston Bruins, Shem, Grey Panthers.
As a reminder, some of the venues require reservations. They usually reserve tables for the regular teams. If you are a regular team and your team isn’t coming to trivia one week, please call and let them know. Recently, that happened. A table was reserved for a regular team; meanwhile, another team was turned away because they didn’t have seating. Or thought they didn’t have seating.

I have a major surprise for everyone this week. We are going away for a couple of weeks. I know we never take vacation. We are homebodies who never go anywhere. But seriously, this trip is a land trip. We are driving to Florida to spend a couple of weeks on Sanibel Island. We’ve had a place there for many years. If the bugs don’t eat me alive this year, we’ll go back next year. If they are like last year, it is our last year there. We will have guest hosts in place where we usually host. Please be kind to them. Remember, my hosts don’t write the games. If I must research “Flags of the Opera World”, I will! But I know it won’t be necessary. But that is giving me ideas…
