The Strand Theater is a success story our community should be proud of.
Thanks to volunteers, donors, grant funding, and community support, the Strand has been renovated into a beautiful gathering place on Main Street. Visitors regularly compliment the theater, and the Strand Board continues to work on bringing movies, live entertainment, and special events to our community.
But admiration alone doesn't keep the doors open.
The reality is that the Strand currently has less than $5,000 in available operating funds. During the first two quarters of 2026, expenses exceeded income by approximately $2,500.
If that trend continues, the math is simple: the Strand has about one year of operating funds remaining.
We are not sharing this to sound alarm bells. We are sharing it because we believe the Strand is worth sustaining for future generations -- and because there is still time to change the trajectory.
We need your help.
First, support the Strand in the ways that already exist. Attend movies and events, purchase concessions, popcorn buckets, and bottomless drink, become a ticket member, advertise through the theater, volunteer at concessions or events, and encourage others to attend. Every form of support helps.
Second, we're excited to introduce the STRAND THEATER SUSTAINER Campaign.
A Strand Theater Sustainer is an individual, family, or business that contributes $100 to help support the continued operation of this community-owned asset.
Sustainers will be recognized:
- In the Strand Theater lobby
- On-screen before each movie
Sustainer status is valid for six months, with new and renewed Sustainers recognized beginning January 1 and July 1 each year.
