Had a nice visit with Harley from Sandhill Curiosity Shop (where nothing is for sale). He liked one of our signs, so I’ll take that as high praise. He wished us luck and even let me take a photo! Thanks Harley! ( annabelle)

Doing some repair work this morning. Jonathan got a picture of the shield while he was up on the roof. Looking pretty good. We will be in Amarillo today, sorry if we miss you. If you are traveling East be sure to stop at Sam’s Town in Erick Oklahoma; if you are traveling west you will see so many great things across Texas. Happy Journey!

Hope everyone is having a great day!! We are looking forward to hosting a fun movie night tonight. Come on down around 9pm for American Graffiti. Also, take some pictures on our giant 40x40 painted Route 66 Shield. Have fun, make good memories!

Testing the sound for tomorrow’s movie. We usually do an outdoor theater with camp chairs. But, we also have an FM transmitter we can use for a drive-in experience. So, for the Caravan and anyone else who wants to see the movie we hope you’ll have a great time.

I feel like a supermodel!

I have more pictures of me on tourists cameras than I do in family photo albums!!

I see you drive by shooters. Yes, we have a 40'x40' Route 66 shield that's fun to take pictures of. I'd be glad to set up a ladder for you for a better shot.

Food for thought: Route 66 businesses are folding up at a pretty high rate.

Some day I'm afraid MMM will be a Walgreens, the U Drop Inn will be a Starbucks and a cell phone store, the Catoosa Whale will be a Walmart and all we'll have left of 66 are the pictures that killed it.

It's not even about the money but just a show of interest. Come in, say hi, it takes less than 60 seconds.

You never know where you might find yourself if you just slow down.

With each new wave of travelers comes a new wave of dis and misinformation.

I'd like to clear this up from a Small Businesses point of view.

Visit Amarillo released these coin albums in 2023 for stops along Texas. Of course they focused their attention on the big stops often highlighted but in doing so they trusted the distribution of these albums to hired help and employees of the cities themselves. Through the telephone game a lot of the information was lost.

1. The coins are free ONLY with a past purchase of an album.
2. The album comes with a stamp slip that is stamped at each of the 9 coin stops.
3. There's a QR code that tells you where you can collect your coins EXCEPT small stores like ours for some reason??
4. Only 1000 albums exist.

So at first, the album didn't have the stamp slips and employees of all of our favorite Route 66 stops were just handing coins out to anyone that asked. They simply didn't know any better. It's not their fault and I'm not placing blame with them. These are just the facts.

That's right, there are people out there with coins they shouldn't have meaning inevitably there will be albums that will have open spots for coins that belong to album purchasers they can't get coins for.

It's not a problem yet but math is math and it's going to happen unless they've already stocked up on an unknown number of surplus coins because we have no way to know how many got handed out without albums being purchased first.

If you are one of those that happens to be unfortunate enough to get an album and find that specific coins are no longer available contact Visit Amarillo and hold them accountable because you should get everything you paid for.

Also, if you have coins and didn't buy the album, know that you were supposed to, and while it's not your fault someone gave you the coins for free, I'd encourage you to make it right and either return the coins or buy an album. Otherwise you're taking something that rightfully belongs to someone else.

It's not your fault but these are the facts.
