Forrest Willey Photo The photography of Forrest M. Willey Willey for a unit in his Earth/Space Science class at Seymour High School. Please call for pricing.

Before becoming the informational and artistic entity that it is today, Cortland Astronomy had its beginnings as a series of humorous astronomy-themed videos that were shot in 2003 by owner and founder Forrest M. Willey, now a graduate of Purdue University's College of Liberal Arts didn't revisit the project until 2013 while trying to find ways to fund a house renovation project for he and his wif

e Jill. Re-imagined as a service for providing information about celestial happenings and showcasing astrophotography to the rural Southern-Indiana area, Cortland Astronomy began to take on a form far more refined (but no less fun) than its crude and often eccentric beginnings. Now, we update a page with weekly and sometimes daily pictures of the night sky worked into the background of local landmarks or scenic locations. Some prints are available at local outlets, but we will travel and photograph night scenes for individuals at their residences or properties.

I remember when I first became interested in wildlife photography a little over 10yrs ago I read something along the lines of “only pictures of birds being birds are interesting” on some self-annointed expert’s blog.

I’ll take a portrait in soft golden light over a washed out action shot any day. Now an action shot in good light on the other hand…

Last night’s full moon as it rose behind the grain legs at Prem1er in Brownstown. The man standing on the platform was taken from an engagemet photo shoot several years ago. Obviously no one was going to go up there to gaze wistfully upon the moonlit landscape when it was 12 degrees outside!

Anyway, enjoy

I'm taking orders for my 2026 wall calendar! For those of you who are repeat customers, you know the drill. If you're new or just need a reminder, here are the details.

Each calendar to be delivered in person by me INSIDE Jackson County, IN is $35. For all orders to be shipped outside Jackson County, please add $10 to cover shipping. Ex: 2 shipped calendars are $80 (2x$35 + $10 shipping).

These calendars measure 11x17" folded and are stiff wire bound and printed with 6 color ink on heavy card stock for the best in color accuracy and durability. Subjects are mostly natural scenes and wildlife from beautiful Jackson County, IN but a few images from my travels will make the list as well.

Payment needs to be cash or check (message me for details) or by Venmo to "-willey" if you prefer the speedy way of paying. All payments are due by 11:59pm on November 24th. Calendars should all be delivered by Dec. 20th.

Still here, still taking pictures, and still producing a wall calendar for this year! I have a huge backlog of work this season owing to being in demand in all aspects of my life. Clients, you're not forgotten (though I don't begrudge you if you feel that way), and annual calendar purchasers (about 100 of you), they'll be going on order in about two weeks!

About the image:

This was taken last week during soybean harvest in the Honeytown Bottoms. Featured is a Case IH combine leaving a large dust trail, and chaff discharge. A cloud shadow is at the left of the dust trail. That bright gradient coming in from the upper left? That was me just having fun in Lightroom. No idea what its supposed to be, but I liked it. I hope you all do too!
