Steve McGrew served as the SHS Band director for 33 years and played in the Schulhaus 4+3 band at the Seymour Oktoberfest for many decades. He is greatly missed by his family, students, fellow band members and community. We are proud to honor Steve with this commemorative hat pin in 2026.

This year, Seymour Oktoberfest, Inc. is proud to honor Steve McGrew, whose more than 30 years of dedication as a band director at Seymour High School and throughout our community have left a lasting impact on generations of students and families.

Steve McGrew was an absolute staple, an icon and musical fixture at the Seymour Oktoberfest! He was our contact for the SHS band to be in parade, opening ceremonies and the Schulhaus 4+3 band for decades and decades! If you were on the west end, you saw Steve on the stage playing clarinet and/or saxophone! Thank you McGrew family for sharing him with our community! Steve to many, Mr. McGrew to countless kids and adults whose interest in music blossomed because of him! Thank you Steve for your dedication to the Seymour Oktoberfest, rest easy Sir!
