Sesser Opera House The official Sesser Opera House page. The Sesser Opera House is a historic theatre in the heart of Sesser, IL. It was then redesigned and rebuilt.

Originally built in 1904, the first theatre burned down in 1914. Since it's reconstruction, it has hosted a variety of entertainment, including plays, movie showings, traveling musicians and more.

What an incredible night this past Saturday!

The 7th Annual Sesser Mouse Derby was a huge success, and it is all because of you. Thanks to everyone who came out to the Gualdoni Event Center, we have officially met our goal of purchasing new main speakers for the Sesser Opera House theatre. This is a big deal, and it would not have happened without the generosity and support of this community.

Congratulations to this year's Mouse Derby champion, and a big shout-out to our costume contest winners who absolutely brought it with their Kentucky Derby attire. You all made the night even more fun!

The Mouse Derby is just over a week away!

Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at The Gualdoni Event Center for The 7th Annual Sesser Mouse Derby Fundraiser. Doors open at 6PM for cocktail hour, and the first race goes off at 7PM. Come dressed in your best Kentucky Derby attire, place your bets with Mouse Money, try your hand at Plinko and Mouse Roulette, and help us raise money for new main speakers at the Opera House.

Every dollar you spend that night goes toward something that will make a real difference for this community. We hope to see you there!

We know, we know... We've been a little quiet on the Variety Show front. ☺️

We haven't forgotten, we promise. After some planning discussions with our Board of Directors, we've moved the show back a month, with a tentative date of August 22nd. Auditions are planned for June and will be submitted by video, so start thinking about your act!

More details will follow as we get closer. Stay tuned.

The Sesser Opera House is exploring the idea of a family‑friendly Variety Show tentatively during the month of July, and we’re checking to see—

Are there performers in our community who would be interested in participating?

We’re excited to bring another year of movies to the Opera House in 2026!

Our first showing will be You've Got Mail on Saturday, February 7th at 7PM. This fan-favorite romantic comedy is a great way to usher in the Valentine’s season.

This is just the start of the full slate of showings we have in store. A few titles will have to wait until closer to their dates to be announced. We can’t wait to show you what else is coming!

What a year it has been at the Sesser Opera House. Since June, we hosted 10 movies showings, welcomed live performances back to our stage, and launched a brand new Youth Advisory Committee. Every ticket in this collage represents a memory made and a moment shared in this historic space.

Thank you to everyone who attended our events and helped make each one a success. Your support and enthusiasm continue to bring this theatre to life.
