United States Air Force Approves Participation Eligibility for 2026 Unity of Effort Event in Sequim, Washington

SEQUIM, WA — Security Services Northwest (SSNW) and Fort Discovery are proud to announce that the United States Air Force has officially approved the 2026 Unity of Effort event for Air Force participation eligibility, including potential military flybys and helicopter static display support during this year’s event scheduled for August 8, 2026, in Sequim, Washington.

The approval was issued through the United States Air Force Aviation Support Branch following review of the formal aerial event application submitted for Unity of Effort 2026. While final aircraft participation remains subject to operational availability and mission requirements, the event has now been recognized as eligible for official Air Force support consideration.

Unity of Effort has become one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier public safety, military appreciation, and community outreach events, bringing together military units, law enforcement agencies, emergency medical services, first responders, and private security professionals for a day dedicated to honoring service and strengthening community partnerships.

“This is outstanding news for our community and everyone who has worked tirelessly to grow Unity of Effort over the years,” said Joe D’Amico, President of Security Services Northwest. “The opportunity to potentially host Air Force aircraft, crews, and aviation assets alongside other military and emergency response partners continues to reinforce the importance of honoring those who protect our nation and communities every day.”

According to the approved event concept, Unity of Effort 2026 is expected to feature multiple military and civilian aircraft platforms, static displays, emergency response demonstrations, military and law enforcement vehicles, vendor exhibits, food vendors, live music, children’s activities, K9 demonstrations, and community outreach booths.

The event will again be hosted at Security Services Northwest Headquarters and Fort Discovery in Sequim, Washington, utilizing a professionally coordinated helicopter landing zone and a controlled public access area, both designed in cooperation with the FAA and local authorities.

Unity of Effort has been organized annually since 2001 and serves as a public event honoring military personnel, law enforcement officers, emergency medical responders, firefighters, dispatchers, and security professionals throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Additional announcements about participating aircraft and event details are expected to be released throughout the summer as confirmations are finalized.

Coast Guard rescues an injured 25-year-old stranded on a cliff at Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint

U.S. Coast Guard Northwest District Public Affairs- (206) 220-7237

SEATTLE — A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Facility Newport rescued an injured 25-year-old man who was stranded on a cliffside at Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint near Depoe Bay, Oregon, Saturday morning.

At approximately 10:00 A.M. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a request for assistance from Salem County Dispatch who reported the individual sustained an ankle injury and was unable to safely extricate himself from a cliffside position approximately 10 feet above the water. Due to rising tide conditions and the subject's location, first responders determined additional assistance was required to safely recover the individual.
At approximately 10:25 A.M. an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Facility Newport arrived on scene and successfully hoisted the individual from the cliffside. The patient was then transported and transferred to awaiting emergency personnel.

“Rescues like this highlight the importance of programs like the Advanced Helicopter Rescue School, which focuses on training for contingencies such as inland search and rescue and cliffside rescue,” said Lt. Travis Weaver, MH-65 pilot in command during the rescue. “Being able to train for events like this before they happen make for safe and effective rescues when our partners call on us for help.”

🇺🇸 Farewell to Our Silent Warriors 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor and remember four of America’s finest — warriors of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, 4th Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. These men did what few can ever claim: they lived with purpose, fought with courage, and gave their lives in service to a nation they loved.

The “Night Stalkers” are legendary for their skill, their bravery, and their unbreakable will to accomplish the mission — no matter the odds. These four heroes carried that torch with pride. They flew into the dark corners of the world so others could sleep in peace, and in doing so, they stood as guardians of freedom.

Their sacrifice is not just remembered, it is etched into the fabric of our nation. They were sons, brothers, friends, and teammates who answered the call again and again, never seeking recognition, only victory and honor. They kept America safe, and they made us proud.

We say goodbye with heavy hearts, but with heads held high, knowing they now rest among the great company of warriors who came before them. Their legacy will endure in the Regiment’s creed, in the motto that defines them, and in the quiet gratitude of a grateful nation.

Night Stalkers Don’t Quit.

🇺🇸 Rest easy, warriors. Your mission is complete. 🇺🇸
