New schedule changes!
Everyday at 12:00 pst Dragnet
1:pm Gunsmoke
2 pm The Bob Hope Show
3 pm Dragnet
4 pm Gunsmoke
5 pm The Bob Hope Show

This repeats 24 hours per day but a new episode plays each time. Music from the 40's, 50's and early 60's playing every half hour.

If you have a program you'd like to listen too, just let me know what and at what time. I'll try and give it to you.

Having all kinds of problems with most of my software not working under Win10. On Air/Off type of things going on. Not going to spend hundreds of dollars on new software. We'll see what works out.

I was asked by a listener why he could still tune my station in. It is still on the air in auto-mode playing only old songs. I'm just not doing all the programming etc required to air old Radio shows. So if you just want to listen to music from the 50's and 60's please tune us in. Thanks.

KOOL is off the air. Tired of the constant battle to keep it up and running properly. Thanks for the support over the last six years. Computer problems, software glitches and power outages have taken their toll.

Our Story

In 1958 aboard the USS Strickland DER333 this station, KOOL began its broadcasts. Sailing the vast Pacific Ocean it often cruised in waters where no radio stations could be received so KOOL began broadcasting 1950’s style rock to all the listening devices aboard. It became very popular for it’s music and make believe commercials. The music came from a private collection of mine.

Commercials were made from real life experiences of both officers and enlisted. For example, while visiting Midway Island, someone put a Gooney bird on the Executive Officer’s bed, which he discovered in the dark! No one knew who did it but KOOL discovered the culprit. A commercial was made, kind of like this. “Would you like your very own Gooney Bird to place on your bunk? If so, contact Roberts Gooney Bird Farm.” Roberts was an Ensign. (not real name) The officers always listened to KOOL during dinner so you can imagine the gasps and laughter when they heard the commercial. Since Roberts was guilty he was sure he was in for it but the Executive Officer thought it was so funny he forgave Roberts.

This started a torrent of secrets being revealed on others so that I’d make up more commercials.
