Hey folks,

Real talk for moment;

The economy is in the toilet and I've had to make a very tough choice regarding the studio.

Business has slowed down quite a bit and my cost of materials has gone through the roof. Being a solo artist and owner means I have ownership of a higher cost of doing business.

As a result I've had to make the hard choice to close the shop and move back into doing a private studio and private bookings. Though it will be a while before things are setup to do this.

I'll be confirming with the property owners on when I'll need to close up the shop by.

If there is anyone would like to get some flash, touch ups or custom pieces you'll need to get them on the books as soon as possible to ensure we can wrap them up prior to closing the studio.

For folks who participated in the membership program I'll be processing refunds shortly.

Friday the 13th sheets are ready ❤️

Did you know; The tradition of "Friday the 13th Tattoos" is one of the most beloved rituals in modern tattooing, blending a bit of superstition with a lot of marketing savvy.

The Origins: Sailor Jerry and the "13"
While sailors have long used tattoos to ward off bad luck, the specific "Friday the 13th" event is widely credited to Sailor Jerry (Norman Collins), the father of American traditional tattooing.

In the mid-20th century, he reportedly began tattooing the number 13 on people on this specific day to "defy" the bad luck associated with it. The idea was to take a symbol of misfortune and wear it as a badge of protection—a way of saying, "I’m already cursed, so nothing worse can happen."

The "Flash" Phenomenon
The tradition exploded in the 1990s, largely thanks to Oliver Peck (of Ink Master fame). In 1995, he hosted a 24-hour marathon at his shop in Dallas, offering small, simple designs for a set price. This transformed the day from a niche superstition into a global industry event.

Key Features of the Tradition
* The Number 13: Traditionally, every design offered on this day must incorporate the number "13" somewhere in the artwork.

* Flash Sheets: Artists create "Flash Sheets"—pre-drawn, set designs. You usually can't ask for a custom piece; you pick what’s on the paper.

* The "$13 + $7" Rule: For years, the standard price was $13 for the tattoo plus a $7 "lucky tip" for the artist, totaling $20. Due to inflation and the cost of supplies, most shops now charge between $31 and $130, but the "lucky tip" sentiment often remains.

* Walk-ins Only: It is famously a "first-come, first-served" event, often resulting in lines wrapping around the block.

Common Motifs
Since the day is rooted in "bad luck," the designs usually feature:
* Black cats
* Broken mirrors
* Horseshoes (pointing down to let the luck out, or up to catch it)
* Skulls and daggers
* Crystal balls
