Spring Concert is Friday @ 6:00 pm for JH and HS Concert choirs. Students need to report to the PAC by 5:15 in concert black or bright colored (spring) dress clothes.

To the six Jr High District Choir students: Jr. High District Choir rehearsal in Lamar has been postponed to Thursday, 2/27. Stay warm everyone!

JH and HS Concert Choir will have their first competition this Friday @ 10:30 at NEO Music Festival. At the bottom of the post is the itinerary of events.

Students will need to be in concert black with signed permission slip (given out tomorrow) in order to attend.

The festival is open to the public and is taking place at the NEO Performing arts building.

Choir students will need to either bring their lunch or bring approx. $15 for lunch at the Lucky Buffet.

After, we will go to Chapters, a bookstore and Starbucks coffee shop. Students do not need money to look through the store, but may want some spending money for this.

Finally, we will attend a Coleman Theater tour at 1:00 pm, and will return to the school no later than 3:00 pm.

Upcoming Events!

Friday:
- 10:00 JH Veteran's Day Assembly (JH & HS Choir)
- 2:30 HS Veteran's Day Assembly (JH & HS Choir)
Saturday:
- 8:00-12:00 First Shift (see schedule)
- 12:00-4:00 Second Shift (see schedule)

Veteran's Day: students are to wear concert black, which is nice black dress clothes. These events happens during the school day. If your student needs to change between, there will be time!

Stars Over Seneca: students are to wear jeans and Seneca T-Shirt (if possible). The attached schedule has been based off of information students have given on their availability and updated today. If you or your student's name is missing from the volunteer list for the event, please email or message Chris Tanksley.

Stars Over Seneca is coming up quick and we need help! If you are able to donate to our hospitality room for our judges, clinicians and directors, feel free to send them in anytime this week or bring the morning of! Here is the sign up list!

Upcoming Events!

I wanted to take a moment to give you some information you may need for the upcoming events/performances your child has on November 8th, November 9th and December 17th (recently changed).

Attire. Students need to be in concert black, which means: black shoes and socks, black pant/dress shirt, black dress, etc. This should be semi-formal, no t-shirts and no jeans.

Arrival. Students need to be at the council house no later than 45 minutes before the start time of the concert. (Usually 5:15). This is to allow warm up/last minute preparations. Non-students are welcome to wait in the PAC.

Absences. If your child is unable to attend, I need to know as soon as possible. The students understand that an excused absence can be made up by either singing their parts alone in front of the class or a 2-page paper over the music that is due within a week of the performance.

Stars Over Seneca

On November 9th, we will be hosting our Stars Over Seneca show choir competition. At this event, we have over 2,000 people walking through our schools, and is the primary fundraiser for our entire choir department. We need all hands on deck!

Your child will be required to work a 1 4-hour shift (8:00-12:00 or 12:00-4:00) on this day. If your child is only available for a specific time (even if its less than the shift), please let me know so I can accommodate. We are also needing parent volunteers! (More info next week).

Choir season is starting to ramp up as we approach Neosho Festival and Stars Over Seneca. Some things your child will need to keep in mind:



Show Choir:

\-- Must be eligible to participate in these performances.

\-- Practices are the next three Wednesdays, be ready!

Jr. High and High School:

\-- Veteran's Day is November 8th. Attire is concert black (black pants, black shoes, black dress shirt)

\-- All students are required to be at Stars Over Seneca November 9th to volunteer for a shift (will be posted and information sent home of what time and where). If they need special accommodation for schedule, send me an email! ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]))

\-- Sight reading - Right now, High School broke ahead by 1 point from third hour, but is still a very close race!

Booster Meeting tonight at 6:00 in Mr. Tanksley's office (Band Room). We will be discussing/assigning volunteers for Stars Over Seneca and getting prepared. Post a comment if you plan on attending!

Booster Meeting Wednesday @ 6:00 in the HS Library. This meeting is for all choir parents that are interested in all types of help/volunteering for the Choir Program, as well as long term schedule and vision.
