Now that the secret is out, meet the director of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: Jody Cross!

Jody Cross graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA degree in Theatre. Among her acting credits include Steel Magnolias, Crimes of the Heart, The Hound of the Baskervilles, an episode of Matlock titled “The Revenge,” numerous characters in Calvary Christmas productions, as well as Janet Leigh in the Psycho Show at Universal Studios in Florida.

Jody has taught middle and high school theatre at Calvary Day School in Winston-Salem, NC. Her directing credits include Beauty and the Beast, Harvey, Cheaper by the Dozen, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Matchmaker, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and two self-written original musicals, Cinderella with a Twist and Out of the Woods! She also directed countless Christmas and Easter productions at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, as well as many youth productions.

She was excited to be welcomed to Oconee Community Theatre by taking part in Busted Wedding Belles and The Wizard of Oz. She is looking forward to directing Oconee Community Theatre’s production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!

🎭Tuesday night was the beginning of something magical! 🎭

Families joined us for our Broadway Kids Club informational meeting, where they met our incredible team and learned more about the purpose, heart, and vision behind the club.

Our new students also participated in their first of many Magic Circles, a special Broadway Kids Club tradition where they share the magic of theatre, connect with one another, and create a space where every young performer feels seen and celebrated.

Then, students explored the history and tradition of theatrical masks, learning about their significance before putting their creativity to work and designing unique creations of their own!

We are so excited for all that is ahead for this group. The magic has officially begun!

What happens when you mix theatre games, improv, music, movement, theatre history, guest artists, and a whole lot of FUN? You get Broadway Kids Club!

We’re giving you a little peek at what our young performers can expect when they join us at OCT.

Week one is officially in the books!

Our incredible cast has been diving into the music, learning harmonies, finding those tricky vocal moments, and starting to add a little movement along the way. There’s already so much coming together, and it’s exciting to hear and see this show beginning to take shape.

Week one of rehearsals is officially in the books!

We’re already seeing so much come together, and we’re excited to give you a little peek at what’s been happening behind the scenes.

All of the vocals are really starting to take shape, including a little taste of Lance Glenn, the voice of Audrey II, showing us exactly what this plant is capable of.

There’s a lot more to come, but we think you’ll like what you hear!

Buildings don't renovate themselves.

Behind every fresh coat of paint, every improvement behind the walls, and every exciting change you've seen throughout this series are the people who made it all possible.

This special edition is dedicated to the businesses, volunteers, and community partners who have generously shared their time, talents, and expertise to help transform Oconee Community Theatre. Their hard work, craftsmanship, and commitment are helping shape the future of our theatre, one project at a time.

To every volunteer, local business, supporter, and friend who has worked alongside us, thank you. Community theatre has always been about people, and this renovation is a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.
The biggest reveal is still ahead, and we can't wait to share it with you.

Behind the Curtain with Julie | Episode 3: A Fresh New Look

Welcome back to Behind the Curtain with Julie!

Today, we're giving you a look at one of the most used spaces in our theatre... our newly refreshed restrooms and adjoining hallway.

While these updates may not take center stage, they play an important role in creating a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors. From beautiful new paint and important plumbing upgrades to improved insulation and carefully chosen finishing touches, every detail has been thoughtfully completed with our patrons in mind.

A special thank you to Rocky Hudgens for the incredible paint work, Josh Crews for the plumbing upgrades, Troy Galloway for insulating and sealing the old windows, and Robb Alverson for bringing the final vision together through décor and design.

Every improvement brings us one step closer to creating an even more comfortable and inviting Oconee Community Theatre.

There's still so much more to come.
