How do you keep a dance floor moving? It's not hard.

1. Choose good music.
2. Make sure the transitions either gel so well that there is no stop in the party if you can.
3. Model. Energy is a two way street, and the crowds energy gets me pumped, and vice versa.

That's it. Those are the big details.

The groom was from Venezuela, and the bride and groom wanted some merengue and latin/pop music center stage. The groom wanted to dance with his one family member from home, so he left the dance floor to have a dance with her! Sometimes a crowd can lose energy over the course of a song, especially with high energy dance. But you know what helps? Watch how the energy steadily increases as the groom approaches the dance floor, and check out the crazy energy as he gives it everything! Anytime a couple is present on the dance floor, the energy is higher!

As a wedding DJ, I love making people dance, being creative with music, and partying along with you guys. But one of the biggest treats I get is making connections with guests. Sometimes it leads to a friendship, sometimes it leads to a heartfelt compliment, sometimes it leads to another wedding. I am thrilled daily that I get to do this, and very few things in my life give me greater joy than knowing I made your night!

You wanna know a great way to open your dance floor? Do it before dinner but after your first dance.

Why is this a brilliant idea?

1. Everyone is already seated and not milling around outside, at the bar, in the bathroom, etc.

2. Nobody is too drunk immediately after cocktail hour (hopefully!) and no one is too full from dinner and deserts, so everyone is feeling good!

3. It eliminates the excuse for people who wouldn't dance because "The bride and groom are asking everyone to come down." And who want's to disappoint the couple on their wedding day?

4. Since the dance floor is full, this is a great opportunity for photographers to grab dance photos BEFORE the crowd splinters after dinner to a nice day outside, the bar, following the couple to sunset photos, etc. Plus, if your photographers are only contracted to an hour or so after dinner, they may not catch the real party at the end of the night.

5. People will dance longer later. I promise you. If they dance for 10-15 minutes now, it's like a warm up! But then they get time to cool down over dinner, and start back up again afterward!

6. Plus, it's just more fun for everyone. As a guest, would you rather dance, or watch someone else do a few slow dances? You certainly can still do both, but getting the crowd involved early gives everyone an awesome memory of the night!

Hi Friend! Listen, I hope you have fun at your wedding. You paid a lot of money and spent a lot of time for maybe 8 hours of feeling like royalty. You've made it to your special day. You DESERVE to feel relaxed. Your party shouldn't be something you feel stressed about, feeling like you need to host every minute.

Do what you want! You want to go take those sunset photos? Do it. You want to stand at the bar and drink? Do it! But I hope you want to be on the dance floor with me. But if you aren't? That's ok too! I'm going to have enough fun for the both of us!

How good are you at guessing the next song?

It is popular nowadays to hate on line dances. So much so that my contract to clients actually says "Line dances will not be played unless requested."

Here is the thing though... Line Dances are like a cheat code when played at the right time. Is the dance floor emptying for some reason? Are there a lot of people nearby? Are certain people shy about being exposed on the dance floor?

A line dance cures some of those issues! You can't be exposed on a dance floor where everyone is doing the same move! Then, once everyone is comfortable, it often can lead to everyone feeling more comfortable to say out there for the next dance.
