You wanna know a great way to open your dance floor? Do it before dinner but after your first dance.
Why is this a brilliant idea?
1. Everyone is already seated and not milling around outside, at the bar, in the bathroom, etc.
2. Nobody is too drunk immediately after cocktail hour (hopefully!) and no one is too full from dinner and deserts, so everyone is feeling good!
3. It eliminates the excuse for people who wouldn't dance because "The bride and groom are asking everyone to come down." And who want's to disappoint the couple on their wedding day?
4. Since the dance floor is full, this is a great opportunity for photographers to grab dance photos BEFORE the crowd splinters after dinner to a nice day outside, the bar, following the couple to sunset photos, etc. Plus, if your photographers are only contracted to an hour or so after dinner, they may not catch the real party at the end of the night.
5. People will dance longer later. I promise you. If they dance for 10-15 minutes now, it's like a warm up! But then they get time to cool down over dinner, and start back up again afterward!
6. Plus, it's just more fun for everyone. As a guest, would you rather dance, or watch someone else do a few slow dances? You certainly can still do both, but getting the crowd involved early gives everyone an awesome memory of the night!
