Celebrating 35 Years at PC Home Stores!

This August, we are proud to celebrate Reed Dickerson's 35th anniversary with PC Home Stores!
Reed started his journey when PC Home Stores bought Sellersburg lumber as a delivery driver and has worn many hats over the years, including providing valuable support in the yard. Throughout his career, he has witnessed tremendous growth and change, from working at our old location with its close-knit atmosphere to seeing specialty wood products and remodeling projects customers have created.
One of his favorite things about PC Home Stores is the sense of closeness and teamwork, where employees help each other succeed. He has built lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike during his three and a half decades with the company.
When asked about his dream home project, Reed says a kitchen remodel would be at the top of the list.
Outside of work, Reed is a self-proclaimed homebody who enjoys watching westerns, his team to cheer on is the Kentucky Wildcats, and enjoying his favorite food, Chinese- His favorite is the Chinese buffet in New Albany. He shares his home with his two dogs, a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix ("Chiweenie") and a German Pit Bull.
Reed's advice for success is simple:
"Work hard and do what you're supposed to do."

Employee Spotlight: Bob Byerley | Celebrating Over 35 Years of Leadership & Dedication
From the lumber yard to leadership, Bob Byerley's career is a testament to hard work, dedication, and perseverance. When Bob started with PC Home Stores, the company was located in the old skating rink on Fifth Street. He began his journey in the lumber yard at Poe Lumber Company before being hired by David Stemler, our owner, for a sales and management role.
Bob entered the industry in 1990, managing a team of just seven employees. Over the years, he has witnessed tremendous growth and transformation, from paper-based processes to today's modern operations. Through every change, his commitment to the company, its customers, and his team has remained constant.
Some of Bob's favorite memories include participating in two Extreme Makeover: Home Edition projects in Louisville alongside fellow employees. These experiences allowed him to give back to families in need while building lasting relationships with his coworkers.
When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Bob's answer is simple: the people and the challenges. He believes PC is a great place to work because of the trust, teamwork, and opportunity to learn from one another. To Bob, employees and customers alike feel like family.
Outside of work, you'll find him cheering on the Hoosiers, Colts, and St. Louis Cardinals, or spending time outdoors deer hunting and fishing.
His advice for success? "Stick with it.”
And when asked about retirement, his response was just as straightforward: "When it quits being fun.”
