Long live LaBamba!
Celebrating 28 Years of La Bomba Racing at Sebring!
Welcome back to Sebring 2025! This year marks a special milestone for one of the most legendary race party cruisers on the circuit—La Bomba Racing! 🎉
The La Bomba crew has been a Sebring staple for 28 years, bringing energy, creativity, and a whole lot of fun to the track. But their story goes back even further…
It all started in 1981, when a group of race fans from Sarasota transformed an old AMC Gremlin into a rolling party cruiser for the 12 Hours of Sebring. From there, they upgraded to a yellow Pontiac 6-door stretch limo—the original La Bomba!
Evolution of La Bomba:
🏁 La Bomba 1 – The Pontiac limo that started it all (RIP, blown motor).
🏁 La Bomba 2 – A Cadillac Seville, decked out with a tuna tower and a nautical theme.
🏁 La Bomba 3 – The ultimate art car: an old circus parade float, rebuilt and reborn in 1997.
After salvaging the float from a Sarasota Shriners’ field, the crew took on the challenge of restoring it—replacing the drivetrain, reworking the front end, and even making it a class project at Sarasota Vo-Tech. Today, La Bomba is officially registered as a 1996 “built-from-parts pickup truck” in Florida. And yes—it still drives to Sebring every year, making the trip from Sarasota in under three hours! 🚛💨
Why We Do It:
“For us, it’s about tradition, creativity, and keeping the Sebring spirit alive,” says longtime crew member Matthew Greenwood. “People always honk, cheer, and give us a thumbs up on the way. It’s a real hoot!”
Over the years, many legendary art cars have rolled through Sebring—like Zoo Crew, Mr. Badwrench, Pit Crew, Fun Bus, and the unforgettable Run Aground (a boat-car on a Jeep chassis). But La Bomba lives on!
So here’s to 28 years of LaLa Bomba RacingIf you see us rolling through Green Park this year, give us a wave, grab a drink, and celebrate another unforgettable 12 Hours of Sebring! 🏁
