We recently received our student art back from the Salvador Dali Museum and the summer long Student Surrealist Art Exhibit with some REALLY exciting news!

This is a STATEWIDE juried art competition for middle school and high school students. Out of 130 middle school and high school submissions that were accepted to be on display in the Dali Museum in St. Pete (previous email from Steve VanDam with more info)...

I am pleased to announce that Chloei Oh received a High School Award of Excellence!

This special award and recognition, places Chloei in the top FOUR in the whole state! You'll notice her BLUE FIRST PLACE ribbon in the photo! I am SO PROUD of Chloei and she is a WONDERFUL representation of Sebring High School! If you see her, make sure you tell her CONGRATULATIONS!

For my artwork, I wanted to show my surreal self by drawing a magical place. To create this dream-like piece, I drew myself sleeping peacefully alongside a tiger to depict inner peace and self-identity. My piece mainly focuses on tigers, my Chinese zodiac sign, representing how important my culture is to me. During the Lunar New Year, it is a practice to wish prosperity, wealth, and a fulfilling life to your family. So I chose to draw tiger lilies as their vibrant colors symbolize those wishes.

JOIN US for the The School Board of Highlands County District Art Show! This year we are featuring the VERY TALENETED student art work from T-E-N....10 schools!!

We have the gymnasium at South Florida State College PACKED with incredible art and it is a MUST SEE! The show is open to the public today (4/21/26) to Friday (2/24/26) when we will have our Awards Reception and Presentation.

THANK YOU for supporting Art Education and joining us in congratulating our students on their hard work and a successful year of creating art! THANK YOU to our art teachers and their continued dedication to inspiring their students. THANK YOU to the administration that recognizes how the creative arts are essential in education! Creativity nurtures the whole child—mind, heart, and imagination. Through art, music, theater, dance, and design, students learn to think outside the box, solve problems, communicate ideas, and express emotions in ways words alone cannot.

Every year, our Advanced Art Students participate in the The Dalí Museum Statewide Student Surrealism Art Contest. This years theme for the juried exhibit is "The Surreal Self: Personal Symbols, Stories and Portraits." The contest is open to all middle and high school students in the state of Florida. This year THREE students from Sebring High School we accepted as FINALISTS and their artwork will be on display this summer in the Dali Museum in St. Pete! Only 130 students are accepted.

We are honored to recognize: Amanda Rivera Perez, Mady Baxter and Chloei Ou as our finalists!

Because they only have so much room in their museum, the Dali Museum likes to recognize a second group of students as "Runner-Ups" to be featured on their website in an online gallery

We are honored to recognize: Sydney Wright, Natalie Cruz Perez and Maggie Siver as our runner-ups!

Additionally, each art teacher can only submit six student art pieces to the competition and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to also brag on: Tina Zhang, Marga Bibal, Gloria Capacyachi, Francky Romelus, Elena Schoonover and Ashley Bauder for being our Teacher's Choice!
