Meet Marie Hoff. Shepherd, woolmonger, and the woman behind and .

Marie raises a small flock of heritage breed sheep here in Northern California and works with locally grown wool to create beautiful, useful products. She knows wool from the sheep all the way to the finished skein, which makes her a pretty wonderful person to learn spinning from.

She's joining us at Gather this Tuesday for Spinning Local Wool: Drop Spindle Basics, where you'll learn how to turn wool into yarn using one of the simplest spinning tools around.

We still have spots available! Come learn something new with us.

Two local legends at Gather this Saturday!

of .made is teaching us to make chili crisp, and is spending the afternoon with us weaving on lap looms.

Two women makers we love. Two very different things to learn. And honestly, we’d happily spend Saturday doing either one.

A lot of tomatoes, and not a small amount of work.

Jennifer Emmons Koelemeijer has been busy putting away the summer harvest: fermented Sungold, destined for hot sauce, whole canned San Marzanos, and dehydrated cherry tomatoes that will become a very good bruschetta spread.

It takes time. There are jars everywhere. The kitchen gets hot. But winter Jen is going to be very happy with summer Jen!

Tell us, what are you preserving this season?

Somehow September is almost over? Not sure how that happened.

We have some great workshops left on the calendar this month: preserving apples, crafting chili crisp, weaving a wall hanging + learning sashiko. A pretty good mix, if we do say so ourselves.

Join us! We hope to see you in the shop soon.

Meet Lani Chan, the local maker behind .made and some seriously good chili crisp.

Lani makes Hei Ma right here in Sonoma County, in small batches with locally grown chiles, seasonal produce and techniques rooted in Chinese culinary traditions. We love getting to know the people making good things in our community, and Lani is one of them.

So, naturally, we wanted to know how she makes it (and hopefully teach us how to!)

The Hei Ma recipe is staying a secret. But luckily for us, IS coming to Gather to teach us how to make our own.

In this hands-on workshop, she’ll break down what makes a great chili crisp and help you play with flavor, heat and texture to create your own blend.

Come learn from a talented local maker and head home with a jar of your own (and a jar of Hei Ma, so you can taste test!)

A hole, a worn elbow, a favorite pair of jeans that has seen better days. Before you give up on it, mend it.

Visible mending is one of those practical arts we love because it’s useful, creative and gives us another way to keep the things we already own in use.

Tuesday, Sept. 8 is joining us to teach the skills of mending + patching. Emily is a talented sewist, weaver and all-around maker. She brings a real passion for textile reuse to the workshop, along with the skills to show you how to patch, reinforce and repair clothing by hand.

In The Art of Visible Mending: Mend + Patch, you’ll learn techniques you can take home and use again and again on your own wardrobe.

Come learn to mend with us. Workshop details + registration at the link in bio.
