Relax – John Mortola

Sometimes we work so hard at life that we forget the simplest invitation:

Relax.

This playful poem in the style of Hafiz reminds us that the heart may be the only essential organ when it comes to truly experiencing life. And when it becomes burdened by worry, fear, or striving, perhaps what it needs is not more effort—but a gentle reminder of the love already flowing through everything.

When we stop resisting and begin allowing, life can feel surprisingly effortless.

Three – John Mortola

In just a few lines, this poem opens a door to something vast.

What begins as “you and me” expands into a larger awareness—a recognition that relationship is never limited to two separate beings. There is also the space between us, the shared experience, the mysterious We that emerges when hearts meet.

Inspired by the ecstatic wisdom of Hafiz, Three celebrates the joy of connection, the freedom found beyond separation, and the wonder of dancing together among the stars.

Sometimes the greatest discovery is that we were never as separate as we imagined.

The Words – John Mortola

Some feelings are too large to remain unspoken.

They gather quietly within us—thoughts, emotions, memories, and love itself—until they seek expression. For writers, artists, musicians, and creators, that inner pressure often becomes words, images, songs, or stories.

Perhaps creativity is not about inventing something new, but about giving voice to what already lives within us.

What are the words your heart has been waiting to say?

Food for Thought – John Mortola

What are you feeding your soul today?

We live in a world where outrage, fear, and bad news compete constantly for our attention. While staying informed matters, our minds and hearts were never meant to live on a diet of anxiety alone.

The stories we consume shape the world we experience.

Today, consider feeding your soul with peace instead of panic, hope instead of helplessness, compassion instead of cynicism, and love instead of fear.

The world within us influences the world around us.

Postscript – John Mortola

Growth asks something difficult of us.

To become who we are meant to be, we must continually release who we once were.

There is sadness in that letting go.
There is grief in shedding familiar identities, beliefs, and comforts.

Yet beyond that loss lies something unexpected:

A larger life.
A deeper awareness.
A present moment far more vibrant and dynamic than we imagined.

Perhaps the journey is not about finding ourselves, but about continually growing beyond the limits of who we thought we were.

Pass the Collection Plate – John Mortola

What if the greatest offering we could make
was not our wealth, achievements, or possessions...

but the burdens we've carried for years?

Fear.
Doubt.
Anger.
Resentment.

This playful poem, inspired by the spirit of Hafiz, invites us to imagine laying down everything that weighs upon the heart and discovering the freedom that remains.

Sometimes the richest gift we can receive
is the opportunity to let go.

Perspective – John Mortola

When life feels heavy,
when the challenges seem endless,
it can be easy to forget one simple thing:

To laugh.

Not because our struggles aren't real,
but because perspective reminds us
that we are part of something far greater than our worries.

A cosmic dance.
A fleeting moment of light.
A reminder that joy still belongs here.

In the Margin – John Mortola

Out of scattered thoughts,
quiet reflections,
and moments barely noticed,
something unexpected can emerge.

A spark.
A feeling.
A sudden clarity that lights up the heart
and makes life sing again.

Perhaps creativity, joy, and inspiration
have always lived quietly
in the margins.

Peeking Round the Corner – John Mortola

Perhaps freedom is not something
we achieve someday.

Perhaps it appears quietly
when we stop struggling for it
when we allow the heart
to dance lightly with life
instead of resisting every turn along the way.

There is a wisdom in letting go,
and a joy in simply allowing ourselves to move with the wind.

Peeking Round the Corner – John Mortola

Perhaps freedom is not something
we achieve someday.

Perhaps it appears quietly
when we stop struggling for it —
when we allow the heart
to dance lightly with life
instead of resisting every turn along the way.

There is a wisdom in letting go,
and a joy in simply allowing ourselves to move with the wind.
