Stone Soup Theatre

Stone Soup Theatre Bringing the joy of theatre to Seattle’s youth since 1996. All our student productions are actor-centered, our students are the true stars of our shows!

Stone Soup’s Theatre educational programs focus on giving each young actor the tools they need to succeed on stage. We take focus away from the technical aspects of theatre and put it back in our young actors’ imaginations. We use suggestive costuming, sets and props to allow the students’ bodies, focus, reactions and facial expressions be what shows our audience the world and environment of the play.

Rosaly came to Stone Soup for The Addams Family last season and, honestly? Her answer is kind of what the whole thing is about. 🥹💙

She got to meet new girls her age, learn dances, work on lines, be part of a cast... AKA exactly the stuff that makes theatre so much fun (!!!)

The Addams Family has left the building (for now) but new shows, new casts, and new theatre friends are very much incoming.

Come see what we’re up to this fall 🍯🪄🎄👀

We asked Avery and Koda what they liked most about Stone Soup, and the answers were VERY them. 😂

Avery loved getting to play Wendy and making friends.

Koda loved the dances, the battles, and — this is important — the slow-motion battle.

And we love that those are the things they remember.

Because all that fun gets to happen while they’re building confidence, getting more comfortable trying things, making mistakes, speaking up, and bringing a little more of themselves into the room. 💙

That’s kind of the whole Stone Soup thing: everybody brings their own ingredient, and the show gets better because of it.

Sometimes that ingredient is a bold character choice.

Sometimes it’s an idea nobody else thought of.

Sometimes, apparently, it’s a VERY committed slow-motion battle.

And we’re about to find out what this fall’s kiddos bring to the mix. 👀

Meet Hallie! 💙🎭

There are a whole lot of humans behind Stone Soup, and we want you to know more of them.

Hallie first came to Stone Soup as a camper when she was 6 (!!), and now she’s back as a teaching artist, helping a whole new crew of kiddos learn through theatre.

Gotta love a full-circle moment... 🥹

And that's kind of the whole idea: create a place where kiddos can be creative, try things, make friends, build confidence, and feel like they belong.

Oh, and if this sounds like your kiddo’s kind of place, come join us! 💙

Wednesday report: the friends were the favorite part. 💙

Natalie played Wednesday in The Addams Family, and when asked what she loved most, it came back to acting with friends, seeing friends, and being on stage together.

Very spooky. Very sweet. Very Stone Soup.

And now The Addams Family is coming back August 10–21 — which means more kiddos get their turn to jump into the wonderfully weird fun.

Yes, it’s July. Yes, we’re already talking about elves. 🎄

Elf The Musical JR. is coming to Youth Conservatory!

Young actors in grades 3–9 will spend the fall rehearsing a full musical together, leading up to three live performances in December.

Stone Soup’s Youth Conservatory gives kiddos the time to really work on acting, singing, character development, and the very real teamwork it takes to put a show onstage. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, learn how to support an ensemble, and practice skills they’ll carry far beyond the stage.

Registration is now open at stonesouptheatre.org

Book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin
Music by Matthew Sklar
Lyrics by Chad Beguelin
Based upon the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum

ELF-THE MUSICAL JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Grandma has entered the chat. 💙

Rosaly played Grandma in The Addams Family, and her review pretty much says it all: funny parts, fun dances, lines to learn, and new kids her age to meet.

And good news: The Addams Family is coming back to Stone Soup - August 10 – 21. 🖤

Perfect timing to hear from someone who’s already been in the spooky, silly, very dramatic chaos.

Madeline had so much fun doing Annie — and one of the best parts was making new friends along the way. 💙

That’s what we love about SummerStage. Kiddos get to sing, learn lines, rehearse together, be silly, and try brave things with a group cheering them on.

And the skills kiddos practice on stage matter way beyond the show: speaking clearly, listening for cues, working as a team, remembering their part, and building the confidence to share something with an audience.

Annie is coming to SummerStage this summer.

Outdoor camps in the parks:

July 6–10 — John C. Little Park
July 27–31 — Meridian Playground
August 17–21 — Meridian Playground

Come spend a week outside with Annie, new friends, and a final show families get to cheer for.

A final show is exciting, but this is the part we love hearing about. 💙

Beyond learning lines, it’s about meeting new friends and building confidence — on stage and for life.

At Stone Soup, kiddos join an ensemble, work with teaching artists, learn acting skills, and get a real chance to create, collaborate, and share what they’ve made with family and friends.

Thank you, Liz, for sharing what Stone Soup meant for your kiddo after The Addams Family.

SummerStage starts June 15, and we are SO ready to bring the summer fun back. ☀️

Last summer, Camille told us that, out of all the camps her daughter had done, SummerStage was where she had the MOST fun.

This summer, we’re building on that with incredible educators and teaching artists, improved curriculum, and more opportunities to create, connect, and build confidence.

Oh! And yes, OUTDOOR CAMPS — they’re a TON of fun! 🌳

SummerStage is more than putting on a show. It’s a summer where kiddos use their imaginations, find their crew, and grow through theatre.
