What a night! Dangerous Rhythms featuring NYT best-selling author T.J. English was sold-out and a true smorgasbord of talent. This photo only reflects a portion of the talent that contributed.

So many others. contributed to a first-rate show. Just some of them are: Executive Producer, Sabranie Coyne of Veterans of The Arts , Elnah Jordan, Kevin Vázquez, Jennifer Kaiton, Davy Nefos, Leeran Raphaely, Trevor Peletier and, of course, the great Steve Smith.

Dangerous Rhythms Featuring Jay Cates & T.J. English was a night to remember, not just because of the performers and producers who made it, but because of the folks who packed in Black & Tan Hall and made it even more fulfilling than any of us could have anticipated. Thank you, Seattle, for continuing to be the greatest music city in the USA.

Seattle Blues Dance Collective is excited to bring Dillon Arevalo & Lila Faria to Dangerous Rhythms, featuring T.J. English, for a special 30-minute Blues dance lesson starting a little before 7:30 PM!

Come learn a little, move a little, and get your feet ready for an evening celebrating the connections between Black American music, history, and storytelling.

Robin Chow’s What The Blues Tuesday night practica is a space to come practice, social dance, get feedback, try something new, or just put on some music and move. You don’t have to arrive with a plan - you can come dance, hang out, and connect with other Blues dancers.

September is already underway, and I owe you a little catch-up! 💛 I’ve been sick in bed with a fever all week, so this month’s calendar post is arriving a few days late - thank you for your patience!

There’s still A LOT of Blues happening this month, including:

🎶 Blues 1A Series - Wednesdays, Sept. 9-30
A four-week introduction to Blues dancing at Reverie Ballroom. Perfect for brand-new dancers or dancers returning from time away!

🪩 Reverie Blues Dance - Sept. 9 & 23
Our biweekly Wednesday night social, with a drop-in lesson followed by DJ’d dancing.

💙 Blues Underground - Friday, Sept. 18
Seattle’s longest-running Blues dance returns to Dance Underground with an all-levels lesson and dancing into the night.

🎤 Dangerous Rhythms Live: Elnah Jordan Dance & Book Release - Saturday, Sept. 19
A special night celebrating the release of "Dangerous Rhythms" - a Jazz and Blues History book by T.J. English. Featuring speeches by the author, live music by Elnah Jordan and more. More information will be announced soon!

📚 What the Blues - Tuesdays, Sept. 22 & 29
Come learn, practice, ask questions, and deepen your Blues dancing with Robin Chow at Lowdown Ballroom.

🌆 Hillman City Sway - Thursday, Sept. 24
Live Blues music, dancing, and an all-levels lesson at Black & Tan Hall.

🕺 Blues Dancing for Street Dancers - Saturday, Sept. 26
A special workshop exploring connections between Blues dance and street-dance movement. More info to come!
