A little Art Club update 💛💙💜♥️

Sunday we officially closed the door on our chapter in the studio that Art Club has called home for the past two of years.

It happened a little sooner than I expected, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t bittersweet.

So much happened inside those walls: clay-covered tables, drawing circles, cyanotypes drying in the sun, clothing swaps overflowing into the next room, coffee orders scribbled down during workshops, strangers becoming friends, and countless little creative experiments that somehow turned a room into a community and playful third space.

Because our move happened sooner than planned, we’re cancelling our remaining August gatherings: Summer Clothing Swap and Cafecito en Español. Everyone registered has been contacted directly.

But this isn’t the end of Art Club.

For the moment, we’re simply between homes.

I’m going to take a little time to rest, regroup, and thoughtfully figure out what the next chapter looks like rather than rushing into the next room just because we need one.

I’m incredibly grateful for what we were able to build here, and even more grateful for every person who walked through the door and our teaching artist that helped make it feel alive.

The space mattered. The people mattered more.

Thank you for being part of this chapter.

We’ll see you in the next room. ☀️💛

August is our little summer intermission. ☀️

July came in fast and full: clay pastries, pet parfaits, field notes, clothing swaps, cyanotypes, tiny insects, lots of coffee, and so many familiar and new faces around the Art Club table.

It was joyful, busy, and a little wild.

So this month, we’re slowing the rhythm down.

Instead of a full workshop calendar, we’re making room for three easygoing community gatherings—two free events and one sliding-scale Cafecito pilot.

🌞 MIDSUMMER PICNIC
Fri, August 21 • 6–9 PM
Olympic Sculpture Park
Bring a blanket, snacks, a sketchbook, a friend, or just yourself. No workshop. No pressure. Just a picnic.

👕 SUMMER CLOTHING SWAP
Fri, August 28 • 3–7 PM
Solar Lounge + storefront
Bring up to two bags of clean, gently used pieces, or come browse even if you have nothing to swap.

☕ CAFECITO EN ESPAÑOL
Sat, August 29 • 12–2 PM
Solar Lounge
A relaxed afternoon of coffee and conversational Spanish. We’ll use a simple printed conversation sheet to help everyone settle in. Mixed levels welcome. Tickets are $8–$25, and one coffee is included.
Come solo, bring a friend, and stay awhile.

Save this post, 👀 choose your August hangout, and send it to someone you’d like to bring. ✨

Solar Prints, powered by sunshine and Basilica Bio 🌞💙

Today we took Art Club outside with Basilica Bio for an afternoon of botanicals, cyanotype magic, and making something beautiful with our hands.

We gathered leaves and flowers, arranged them with care, let the sunlight work its magic, and rinsed each piece to reveal its own deep-blue surprise.

Big love to Carolyn and Quinn from Basilica Bio for guiding us through such a fun and fabulous afternoon. And to everyone who joined us around the table. We stayed cool with refreshing iced teas and coffee from Sunshine while our prints soaked up the sun. 🌿🧊☕

We don’t have the next Solar Prints date secured just yet, but more creative gatherings are on the way.

Tiny treats were served at Clay Café last night 🥐☕🍪

Our table filled up with mini lattes, croissants, cookies, tiny pastries… 💕The sweetest part? Watching everyone start with the same materials and leave with completely different café creations of their own.

Big love to Rosalie for guiding the table and to everyone who came ready to play. 💛
Missed this one? We have another Treats & Mini Lattes Edition this Saturday morning.

Saturday, July 25
10 AM–12:30 PM
All supplies + specialty drink included

Come solo or bring a friend. A few seats are still open on Lu.ma/artclub (link in bio)✨

A closer look at the small world. 🦋🪲✏️

Field Notes with Trenton returns for an Insect Edition focused on careful observation, drawing, and all the tiny details that are easy to miss.

Trenton is bringing a beautiful lineup to study: a blue morpho butterfly, an 88 butterfly, a stag beetle preserved in resin, a pinned leaf insect, a pinned rhinoceros beetle, pinned bumblebees, live hissing roaches, and live death-feigning beetles.

We’ll look closely at wings, shells, legs, textures, shapes, and patterns, then use approachable prompts to start a page of insect field notes.

No drawing or science experience needed. Just curiosity.

🗓 Thu, July 30 • 7–9:30 PM
📍 Art Club / Solar Lounge • 230 6th Ave N
🎟️ $40 + tax
📓 Handmade Look Closer Journal included
✏️ Drawing tools provided during the session
☕ Specialty coffee, tea, or sparkling water included

You’ll leave with your own cyanotype print and a new way of noticing the plants around you.
