When I look back at my works of art I can see where I have changed and where I have grown. I can often remember how I felt when I created them. When you buy a work of art from an artist you are investing in a piece of them and their journey.

Of course I am not the first one to see these candle holders and think “Hey, I can use those for brushes.” I was in the studio of another artist and was excited to see she had the same idea. The first one is the most beautiful to me. I gave my grandson some paint and brushes and let him go to town. Everytime I look at it, I think of him. ❤️❤️ I love the DIY paints so much. They are made with clay and are non-toxic. The last one my friend had mounted to a table. Genius! We never have enough flatspace.

I am working on something new and exciting! Not just my latest painting, but filming my process. I will be starting my YouTube channel soon and am exploring all the technical things I need to make it happen. Where to put the camera, how to capture sound, vertical vs horizontal, lighting, and SPEAKING. It's all a challenge, but I am here for it. Life was never meant to be coasted through. Challenge yourself to do something today that makes you nervous or fearful. Look it in the eye and say, " Yeah, I can do this." I am not really a shy person, or at least I have grown into a confident woman over the years. My faith and my confidence in my God have made me the woman that I am. I still remember my most hated class, and it wasn't math or algebra. GASP! It was speech. Like a lot of people, I actually had a fear of public speaking. Here I am now putting together videos to post on YouTube. I will let you all know when I launch on the platform! SEE YOU ON THE TUBE!

Last weekend I attended a Create + Capture event and one of the things we worked on was flatlays. This was so much fun I am now painting backgrounds and searching through my house for little treasures to photograph. Here is one we did in class and I used my painting of a bluejay in the layout. The painting is available for purchase just DM me if your interested. 8x10 Acrylic on wood cradle. The sides are painted so no frame is required.

That was quite a hike to the top, but wow, did I get some great photos for my paintings! I think there were 11 switchbacks; some were more difficult than others. I have been at the bottom and the lower bridge, but this was my first time reaching the top. The views up there were spectacular, and we got to dip our toes in the frigid water. Did I mention the highs are in the 70s here and not the 100+? I have to wear a hoody in the morning. 620 feet high. More photos to come. I did some sketches this morning of the beautiful trees. Stay tuned for more to come.

When you’re an artist who loves to paint nature you will make the climb to the top. Yes the top! Time in nature is invigorating but I am wore out. Blessed to be able to make the hike to the top.

When you have a 4-year-old grandson, you paint things you didn't expect. Challenge accepted! Here comes bug #1. A very colorful beetle. I did this one with graphite, watercolor pencil, ink, acrylic paint, and a bit of gold acrylic pen. Don't expect a spider. I draw the line there, LOL, literally.
