“Stay close to anything that makes you glad to be alive.” ~ Hafez

“Nuclear Recitals: Deep Listening in Time of Great Unrest” is an intimate, immersive, interdisciplinary, multimedia experience sonically centering on an inimitable recital performed by renowned Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk on a 9-foot Steinway Grand at a nuclear facility and recorded live. Remastered in 10-channel Dolby Atmos surround sound to replicate original acoustics, this creative climate justice project features a 40-minute Continuous Music soundscape alongside atmospheric visuals and a Dreamachine centerpiece to ease participants into a relaxed, meditative state. The program opens with live, ambient music, vocals and dance, includes an art exhibit, and concludes with a community conversation exploring topics of interconnectedness, resilience and healing.

"Moga" is a group exhibition featuring seven distinguished artists of Japanese and Japanese-American ancestry: Patti Warashina, Catherine Cross Uehara, Hanako O’Leary, Michelle Kumata, Sakura Davis, Erin Shigaki and Elizabeth Jameson.

The exhibition title, Moga, is a Japanese portmanteau for modan gāru (Modern Girl), a term originally used in the 1920s to describe women who challenged traditional Japanese social norms by embracing Westernized fashion and lifestyle.

In this contemporary showcase, these seven artists reclaim and expand the term, using ceramics, drawings, and mixed media to explore the intersection of heritage, gender, and the evolving identity of the modern woman.

‘Tis the season of giving. Join us in gestures of generosity and mutual support. As part of socially engaged practice of our TYPONEXUS community, we collect humanitarian aid donations for people in places where holiday season is less merry due to war. This is an ongoing effort. Perhaps in lieu of Black Friday you also might be compelled to mindfully gift rather than consume. If you have unneeded items, things lingering without purpose, extra stuff to contribute, they can be of critical utility and vital support for others. This round, we are collecting aid to Ukraine, with another harsh winter coming amidst ongoing duress from ptn’s full-scale invasion. Emphasis on basic survival essentials: e.g., items providing warmth, layered clothing, non-perishable food, hygiene, first aid, all things utilitarian you might imagine humans in dire scarcity without fundamental resources need to persevere. If you’d like to pitch in, reach out to us to coordinate. Spread the word, and gratitude in advance.

P.S. We’ll be participating in a holiday art market where some of the documentary photos from “Sunflower on Fire, Ukraine” series will be on display to help boost public awareness. Dec. 13-14. Details coming up. Stay tuned and join us for that as well.
